Financial / Research Analyst SMTT Overview Santa Monica Travel & Tourism, Inc. is a non-profit, non-member organization governed by a board of 11 community individuals. SMTT is the official travel and tourism promotion agency for the City of Santa Monica. It is our job to promote Santa Monica and encourage visitors to stay longer and enjoy more of what our destination has to offer. SMTT operates five (5) locations: Visitor Information Kiosk in Palisades Park; Visitor Information Center at the Santa Monica Pier; Visitor Information Cart on the 3rd Street Promenade; Visitor Information Center on Main Street; and, a Mobile Information Vehicle. Position Description Santa Monica Travel & Tourism (SMTT) seeks a highly motivated, flexible and responsible Financial/Research Analyst - this is a fulltime dual role position. Financial Analyst Responsibilities: Back up support to Accounting Coordinator, mirroring all the functions of that position. Obtain and maintain a thorough understanding of the financial reporting general ledger structure. Assure financial plans are consistent with organizational goals. Providing trends and forecasts; explaining processes and techniques; recommending actions. Running weekly standardized QuickBooks reports for managers, along with a written summary of explanation for their budgets. Responsible for budget and forecasting activities. Ensure the timely reporting of all monthly financial information and prepares documents as needed for TMD & BOD. Assist Director of Operations to ensure a clean and timely year-end audit. As directed will report on financials at both the monthly Board of Directors and Tourism Marketing District Committee. Coordinate commercial banking relationships to facilitate an appropriate credit resource under highly competitive terms. Improves financial status by analyzing results; monitoring variances; identifying trends; recommending actions to management. Receive, process and verify accuracy of customer, vendor and interdepartmental sales orders and ensure integrity of all income and sales data. Capable of analyzing sales & retail merchandise trends to provide reports to CEO/President. Provide financial analysis tools to evaluate company ventures or special projects, programs, capital expenditures, products costing, etc. when necessary. Compile data and prepare a variety of reports as requested by CEO, CMO and Directors. Research Analyst Responsibilities: Analyzes research to provide summaries, reports and presentations. Illustrates data graphically and translates findings into written text.

• Supports chief marketing officer and marketing director with various research projects. • Review reports to locate errors or inconsistencies and ensure timely corrections and

adjustments. • Liaises with tourism organizations to determine reporting best practices. • Helps implement new organization wide reporting system process. • Monitors industry statistics to determine impacts to the destination/organization.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in finance or accounting, or equivalent business experience and 5-7 years of progressively responsible experience.

• Excellent communication skills are essential, particularly in regard to presenting the results of analyses to management.

• Self-motivating individual who requires little supervision. • Must have intermediate to advance Excel skills, QuickBooks, Microsoft Office & MAC

proficient. • Strong experience in accounting, finance, economics or business management is

preferred. • Strong analytical skills with the ability to organize and analyze significant amounts of

information with exceptional attention to detail and accuracy. • SMTT is an at-will employer. Either SMTT or the employee may terminate the
