    Writing

    We are writing about our FAMILIES!!! Weare practicing writing a topic sentence, bigideas with sentences that stop and explainand a concluding sentence!     Homework

    Thank you for helping your child returnhis/her homework! We had nearly 100%of the first graders return homework!WAY TO GO!!! November homework camehome on Friday. It will need to bereturned to school by ThursdayDecember 1st! We will be eating in theclassroom on that day!

    Math

    We are finishing up our Geometry unit! Thekids have been learning about the attributes

    that different shapes have. During our Mathworkshop time they have also had to useproblem solving skills to see how they can fitdifferent pattern blocks into a design as wellas different ways they can fill the samedesign. Ask your child how and why we useshapes in our world! Your childs Unit 2 pages

    will be coming home next week. Please use anyunfinished pages as extra practice and review.

    WANTED

    We are in need of snack! Please sendin a snack to share with the class.

    Hip, hip HOORAY for

    Safety Day!!!

    Three cheers for our amazingcommunity volunteers that came in

    last Thursday to share theirexpertise around safety. We had a911 dispatcher, police officers and

    firefighters from Northern Colorado

    come in and talk with thekindergarten and first grade kiddos!

    We had so much fun and learned a lot,especially about how important it is toknow our phone number and address!

    Please practice this at home!

    TIRES AND TENNIS TUESDAY!

    Dont forget to ride your bike or

    scooter, carpool or walk to school on

    TUESDAYS!!

    First Grade Directory

    Winter weather is

    Here!

    Please make sure your

    child comes to school with

    appropriate weather gear. If

    there is snow on the field at

    all, only children with

    snowboots can play out there!

    Also, please be sure to pack

    tennies on P.E, day.

    Food Drive

    We are having a food

    drive at Ponderosa! Please

    bring in non-perishable food!

    We are in competition not only

    with our grade-level classes

    but also with Mary Blair!!! They

    brought in more items last

    year so lets BEAT them this

    year!!!!

    November 21st and 22nd: ThePonderosa staff will be involved insome intensive training around ourglobal focus. Therefore, your child

    will not have school that day. We senthome information about child careavailable through our Base Camp
