Yearly Examinations for Years 7 to 10

In order to have the Yearly Exams in the school Hall, all Yearly Exams are scheduled during Week 6 after the HSC as follows:

    Year 7 – 11/11/2013 Monday period 4

    Year 8 – 13/11/2013 Wednesday period 4

    Year 9 – 13/11/2013 Wednesday period 1

    Year 10 – 12/11/2013 Tuesday period 1

Examination notifications have been issued to students and can also be found as attachments to the each Year Groups Assessment calendar on the school website. Students must bring the required equipment and arrive on time (9:00 a.m. for period 1 exams). Students who miss the Yearly Exams will have to sit for the exam on their first day back to school. Whilst class teachers have given revision material already further revision can also be found at edmodo.com.au with pin 6JNJM7 for year 8 and CPBN06 for year 9. Students can also use MATHLETICS for revision.

  • Year 7 – 8

In addition to the Yearly Examination, students in year 7 and 8 will have an allocation test at week 9 so that they can be assigned to the appropriate classes next year. Students should plan for a study routine including using MATHLETICS and attending after school Homework Centre on Monday and Thursday at school library. Please ask your child or check with the class teachers about the current topic and topic tests for detail.

    Year 8

A numeracy program will be run during Maths lessons once a week to consolidate the numeracy skills of students. Teacher will use results from diagnostic material to identify the need of students and teach them accordingly.

    Year 9

As Stage 5 for year 9 students is a 2-year program, normal teaching will continue until the end of the year. In addition, parents should note that there are 3 pathways of Maths in Stage 5 – Stage 5.3 Advanced Maths, Stage 5.2 Intermediate Maths and Stage 5.1 Standard Maths. The pathway your child is studying will have consequence on the Maths course your child can study for the HSC. A brief summary can be found as follow and see the class teachers for detail.

Year 10 The choice of Maths course for year 11 depends on the Maths ability and career / study need of student. For example, a Stage 5.1 student will not be able to cope with the vigour of 2 Unit (Advanced) Maths and it is highly unlikely that the student can succeed. Hence, it is the duty of the teachers to tell the student that it is inappropriate for him/her to choose 2 Unit (Advanced) Maths. See below for a diagram of the course structure.

    Year 11

It is the Maths Faculty policy that the previously issued textbook has to be returned before a new textbook can be issued. Please remind your child to return the Preliminary textbook so that the new HSC textbook can be issued for their study. If the issued textbook is lost or badly damaged, please pay $50 for the replacement. Thank you very much.

The first Maths assessment task for the HSC is scheduled at week 7 and week 8 depending on the course. Assessment notifications have been issued. See the class teachers for detail.

For year 10 students, Stage 5.3 students (10MAT.1, 10MAT.6 and 10MAT.7) normally progress to 2 Unit (Advanced) Mathematics. Those who consistently achieved high results in Stage 5.3 can apply to the Head Teacher for studying Maths Extension. They can also opt not to study Maths if they focus lie elsewhere. Stage 5.2 students (10MAT.2 and 10MAT.3) normally progress to 2 Unit General Mathematics. Those who consistently achieved high results in Stage 5.2 can apply to the Head Teacher for studying 2 Unit (Advanced) Mathematics. They can also opt not to study Maths if they focus lie elsewhere. Stage 5.1 students (10MAT.5) normally do not study Mathematics in year 11. Those who consistently achieved high results in Stage 5.1 can apply to the Head Teacher for studying General Mathematics.

  • Authority to Publish form Library monitors and book club members have been issued “An Authority to publish” form please return to the school as soon as possible. Library Stocktake It is a DET audit requirement that the Library conduct a stock take of one or more sections annually. This year library staff will conduct a stock take of fiction, Graphic Fiction, IEF, Quick Reads, software, equipment, CDs, games, DVDs/VHS and periodicals. Resources from these areas will be unavailable for loan during the stock take period. Stock take will necessitate the closing of the library from the 14th to the 22nd November. Students may still print and copy and borrow before school daily and access the homework centre after school. Borrowing from Non-fiction is available throughout stock take however; loans must be put through before school. Book boxes are made available to teachers and classes if prearranged. Senior students may access the senior study throughout stock take but are asked NOT to move any resources from the locations we are counting and cleaning. Printing in the library Students require a school network login and credit in their copy account. Printing will NOT release unless students are logged in to their OWN account. To add credit to printing/copying accounts.

Take Student ID card to the finance office, before school at recess or lunch and deposit $2 (recommended). The balance will appear via popup box when releasing printing at the library computer.

Library staff can no longer accept cash payments.
