In the presence of Dr. Yaacob Ibrahim and in partnership with Cushman Wakefield 50 needy elderly received our FFTH Goodie bags. Kolam Ayer SCC has been around since May 2008 and our beneficiaries are old folks staying in one room flat.

THANK YOU for being a volunteer

A small Green event to say a Big Thank you to all of you that make Food from the Heart happening every day. As a token of appreciation, FFTH presented all our volunteers with a certificate and a bouquet of orchids as door gifts. True to the theme - Gorgeous in Green, all volunteers came wearing different hue and tones of green. 3 best dressed volunteers were given a prize for putting in extra effort in dressing up!

Kindness knowsNO BOUNDARIES / BREAKING FAST TOGETHER

For four years in a row Grand Hyatt opens its doors and generously welcomes 120 needy hearts. Nothing is missing from these festive days where residents of Jamiyah Children Home come to celebrate together with the team from Hyatt, joining in the happy occasion. A face toTRUE TEAM SPIRIT

FFTH was one of the selected charities to be featured in the President’s Challenge PR video. Our volunteers at Marine Terrace Self Collection centre gave a piece of their weekly work to camera’s fame. This distribution centre was established 7 years ago and it serves 138 beneficiaries. Their team spirit and passion is highly commendable.

When dreams COME TRUE

For 800 student beneficiaries, this buffet is the most exclusive and exciting of all. Its not only a food and drinks buffet but it’s also A Toys Buffet. With the kind partnership of Maha Bodi School, the hearts of these 800 kids filled with joy when selecting from the 10,000 donated toys. Yummy treats like ice cream, muffins, drinks and lunch buffet were kindly sponsored by our partnering companies.

In-tune with STARHUB

For 500 needy people, StarHub broadcasted hope and smiles. In our event in Chua Chu Kang Community Club, with the kind presence of Mr. Gan Kim Yong, toys, attractive prizes and entertaining performances were only a few of the highlights. Starhub’s $200,000 donation will make some of Food from the Heart’s support expansion dreams come true in 2010. Starhub has adopted 6 schools under the Food Goodie Bag Programme for the whole of 2010, which is equivalent to 300 needy families.

Never too young to be A FUNDRAISER

The Sky is The Limit...

Daily collection and distribution of unsold bread from bakeries and hotels with the help of 1,700 active volunteers on a daily basis.Average amount distributed per month: 22,000 kg bread, equivalent to 1000 trolleys of breadDirect beneficiaries: residents from 120 welfare homes + needy families

BREAD PROGRAMME

SELF COLLECTION CENTRES

Weekly distribution centres set up in collaboration with Resident Committees, who evaluate and recommend needy families for our weekly food items. As of Jan 2010, 22 centres have been established island-wide. Food items handed out include bread and non-perishable food items like canned food, rice, oil, noodles and Milo.

FOOD GOODIE BAG PROGRAMME

Monthly food items (standardised content) provided by FFTH are given out by teachers to 50 of the neediest families in selected neighbourhood schools, with schools helping to evaluate and recommend the recipients. A standard food goodie bag contains a bag of rice (10kg), 2 litres of cooking oil, canned food etc., sufficient to feed the student’s family. Schools are also being adopted by corporations which cover the costs of the goodie bags.

No. of beneficiaries: 3,600 needy individuals from 1000 families in 15 neighbourhood schools

TOYS FROM THE HEART

Yearly event held during the school holidays where used toy items are collected from donor schools and given to needy pupils in neighbourhood schools. Every year we hand out 12,000 toys. A mega toy carnival called ‘Toys Buffet’ is organized yearly for the benefits of the less fortunate children.

BIRTHDAY FROM THE HEART

Monthly birthday bashes are held at welfare homes for children. Corporate sponsors are attached to a welfare home and the staff will participate in the celebration and bring gifts for the birthday kids of the month. As of Jan 2010, 5 homes under the programme.

Never says no! Be it bread run to helping at events, Jean is always there to lend her extra pair of hands.

Help out at the reception for Passion Ball almost every year. Also a packer @ Pasir Ris SCC. Her cool and confident persona makes her reliable and likeable.

THE COMMITTED TRIO – Maya , Fiqah & Diniy

Constantly assisting FFTH in admin work, helping out at events and even emceed at a few functions respectively! Have been volunteering for FFTH since 2005.

Always so helpful. As and when we need help at any and every events, there they will be! Been volunteering with us since August 2006.

THE ONE WHO IS ALWAYS ON THE GO! – Dave Lau

Dave is one of the few rare volunteers who does seven routes for the Bread Distribution Programme in a week which include collection from Sunshine & Bagel Factory! Also a sponsor for one of the Christmas Parties.

THE SUPERWOMAN! - Mary Wong

Mary does 7 bread runs in a week! She collects these bread from mostly CBD areas of which many dreads to collect from The Sandwich Shops, Joe & Dough & Fullerton Hotel. She also helps out at many of our events and is also on standby list.

Solid as a rock. This group of packers is all about team work, cooperation and initiative!

A familiar face at any events FFTH organized. From Golf Tournaments to Shanghai Yue Opera to Passion Ball, you name it, she’s there! Has been with us since July 2003.

THE SANTA CLAUS – David Tan

David has willingly put on the Santa Claus costume for our Christmas party @ Nee Soon South for 2 years consecutively!

THE PASSIONATE ONE - Phillip Ngiau

Although Phillip is always in the air, whenever he touchdown, he never fails to help with ad-hoc collection. Phillip also sponsored one of the Christmas parties held at the self collection centres.

CABBY CAPTAIN CARES – Toh San Kuan

Serves as Cabbycare maincoordinator for a fleet of taxi drivers for 13 long distance bread route per week for the past 6 years.
