SCOTT RECEIVES THE QUEEN’S DIAMOND JUBILEE MEDAL FOR HIS COMMITMENT AND DEDICATION TO THE COMMUNITY Edmonton, Alberta (February 8, 2013) Prairie Dog Film + Television is proud to announce that Premier Alison Redford and The Honourable Donald S. Ethell, Lieutenant Governor of Alberta, presented Ron E. Scott and other recipients with the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee medal today at Government House. The Diamond Jubilee Medal is specially designed and minted to mark the occasion of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II’s accession to the Throne as Queen of Canada and honour the Queen’s decades of service. The award itself is a symbol of service, excellence and community involvement. “I continue to be inspired by Ron’s dedication, and his passion for telling meaningful stories that help to create social reform that are being honored and recognized throughout the world,” says Jesse Szymanski, Producer at Prairie Dog Film + Television, “His commitment to Edmonton’s production community has helped to infuse over $20 million into Alberta’s economy as well as supporting local crew and talent”. Ron E. Scott is an award winning Producer, Director, and Writer and founded Prairie Dog in 1993. He has since carved out an enviable reputation, spotlighting unique yet universal stories, with projects that have garnered over 80 nominations and 33 wins. Scott has produced over 170 episodes of television for national and international broadcast markets. His Gemini award winning series Blackstone begins production of its third season in March 2013. Scott is a member of the Métis Nation of Alberta, AMPIA, the Aboriginal Filmmakers Program at the NFB, the Canadian Media Producers Association, the Academy of Canadian Cinema and Television as well as the Writers Guild of Canada and the Director’s Guild of Canada. He has also served as a consultant with the Banff Television Festival, Telefilm Canada and the Alberta Foundation for the Arts. Scott has volunteered at many conferences and seminars including Dreamspeakers; The Business Development Bank of Canada, the National Aboriginal Achievement Foundation; Industry Canada (ABC); NAIT; YC events and the imagineNATIVE Film festival.
