This is the stage:

The steep mountains of the eastern fjords in Iceland. And Keflavik. The town that has been called Iceland's darkest place.

Here you have a big family story, beginning in early 20th century and reaching us today. The story also reaches from the Esstern fjords to the Keflavik in the south, it spans the whole country, crosses the mountains (archaic roses offerd to the gods) and the lava ... that sometimes looks as the devil's ill thougts.

It is the story of people who love and suffer, who are searching and running away, a story about pain and loss, violence and a sea full of fish you are not allowed to fish. It is the story about ships full of American goods for the soldiers at the American base in Keflavik, about the Beatles and Pink Floyd, about bright and dark days up in the east, where a woman turnes into a living mummy.

Breathless (autumn 2013)

Just before Christmas a young woman is found dead beneath steep cliffs in a remote cove in the northern part of Iceland. There used to be a large fishing village by the cliffs in the early twentieth century, but only two houses remain in the area, an old villa and a lighthouse.

Police officer Ari Thor Arason arrives the day before Christmas to investigate the case, only to learn that 25 years ago the baby sister of this young woman and their mother fell to their death from these very same cliffs.

The few people still living in this remote place all seem to have something to hide. And then tragedy strikes again.

Just before Christmas, 2009, the body of a young woman is found in an old fishing hut in Reykjavík. She seems to have overdozed but police-man David is convinced that she was murdered. The only lead he has is an unlisted mobile phone number. By coincidence he comes a cross a recording from a home of a wealthy drug dealer who the police have been monitoring. The recording strenghtens his suspicion but he has to fight for a permission to continue the investigation into the murder – while he is trying to safe his job. And his marriage. When powerful men are forced to defend their position, a murder investigation is of no importance.
