S.No. Information/Checklist Confirmation

Yes/No Details Thereof (With Approximate Quantities/ Rates, Wherever Possible) With Source of Information Data

1.1 Permanent or temporary change in land use, land cover or topography including increase in intensity of land use(with respect to local land use plan)

Yes Land Use- As per revenue record the kind of Land is Riverbed.

Land Cover- The lease area lies on Sagi and Bandi riverbed. The Bajri mining is restricted to 1 m depth in the riverbed. Mineral is being get replenished during monsoon to extracted level hence the ultimate land use of the mine area is not change after systemetic and scientific mining closure. Topography- The mine lies in the riverbed which is undulating. No significant change in topography will take place due to this mining.

1.2 Clearance of existing land, vegetation and building?

No The lease area is in the river bed and devoid of any vegetation and buildings. However, some thorny bushes/grasses would be removed for facilitating the mining process.

1.3 Creation of new land uses? No The mining activity has been confined to the contract area, which will be replenished again with the sediments. So no new land use will be created.

1.4 Pre-construction investigations e.g. bore house, soil testing?

No Proposed project is for mining of bajri already lying in the river bed section and clearly visible and being replenished on yearly basis.

1.5 Construction works? No The opencast semi-mechanized working in the river bed does not involve any construction work.

Page 6: FORM-Ienvironmentclearance.nic.in/writereaddata/modification/PreviousTOR… · ANIL JOSHI . 60, KHASRA NO- 184/2, PRATAP NAGAR, GHATANI HARIPATAL PALI GALI, JODHPUR, RAJASTHAN. Form-I

No Minerals excavated are being loaded directly into trucks for transportation. Hence no storage facility will be required.

1.15 Facilities for treatment or disposal of solid waste or liquid effluents?

No There has been no OB or waste generation as the sand is exposed in the river bed. But, at the later stage, if any soil or waste is obtained during mining, then same will be stored with proper protection and will be used for plantation. Only domestic waste water is being generated from mine office etc. which is being disposed off in septic tank.

1.16 Facilities for long term housing of operational workers?

No Workers are hired / employed locally from the nearby villages. Thus no housing facility is required.

1.17 New road, rail or sea traffic during construction of operation?

No The existing road facility provided through State Highway (SH- 31) and District Road is sufficient for meeting additional traffic intensity during operational phase of the mine. There are approach roads already exist to connect the nearby link roads to the mining site.

1.18 New road, rail, air waterborne or other transport infrastructure including new or altered routes and stations, ports, airport etc?

No No new facility is required. The existing mode of transportation is sufficient.

1.19 Closure or diversion of existing transport routes or infrastructure leading to changes in traffic movements?

5.7 Emissions from burning of waste in open air (e.g. slash materials, construction debris)

No No burning of waste is being done, hence no emission is expected.

5.8 Emissions from any other sources No None.

6. Generation of Noise and Vibration, and Emissions of Light and Heat. S. No. Information/Checklist confirmation Yes/No Details thereof (with approximate quantities/ rates,

wherever possible) with source of information data 6.1 From operation of equipment e.g.

engines, ventilation plant, crushers Yes Mining operations require equipments such as (JCB),

dumpers, tractor, trolleys etc. All the equipments are of highest standard of reputed make and the manufacturer itself takes significant care of noise pollution control. Further, a vegetative barrier is also proposed for the purpose. All the equipments are regularly maintained to keep noise level within the prescribed limit.

6.2 From industrial or similar processes No No industrial process is involved.

6.3 From construction or demolition No No construction or demolition is proposed.

6.4 From blasting or piling No No blasting and piling is envisaged for the mining process.

6.5 From construction or operational traffic

Yes Some noise is being generated during mining operation and transportation of minerals. Same is being controlled by adopting suitable mitigation measures for the project. Also, PPEs such as ear plugs/ muffs are being provided to the workers.

6.6 From lighting or cooling systems No Mining is being carried only in day time so there is no requirement of lightning and cooling system.

6.7 From any other sources No None.

7. Risks of contamination of land or water from releases of pollutants into the ground of into sewers, surface waters, groundwater, coastal waters or the sea.

S. No. Information/Checklist confirmation Yes/No Details thereof (with approximate quantities/ rates, wherever possible) with source of information data

7.1 From handling, storage, use or spillage of hazardous materials.

No No hazardous material is being used or produced at the site hence, no risk of contamination of land or water is envisaged.

7.2 From discharge of sewage or other effluents to water or the land (expected mode and place of discharge)

No No waste water is being generated due to the proposed mining activities. Only domestic waste water is being generated from mine office etc. which is being disposed off in septic tank.

7.3 By deposition of pollutants emitted to air into the land or into water

No Dust suppression is being carried out by mean of sprinkling of water on haul roads, dumps reclaimed area and mine faces for dust emission.

7.4 From any other sources No None.

7.5 Is there a risk of long term build up of pollutants in the environment from these sources?

No Mining is proposed for 5 years only, thus, no incidence of long term build up of pollutants is expected.

8. Risk of accidents during construction or operation of the Project, which could affect human health or the environment

S. No. Information/Checklist confirmation

Yes/No Details thereof (with approximate quantities/ rates, wherever possible) with source of information data

8.1 From explosions, spillages, fires etc from storage, handling, use or production of hazardous substances.

No No hazardous substance is being used or produced during the proposed mining operations. Portable fire extinguisher is being provided during mining operations.

8.2 From any other causes Yes Risk of accidents are expected: During loading of minerals into truck/ tractors/ trolley. During transportation.

Accidents can be avoided by adopting good safety practices.

8.3 Could the project be affected by natural disasters causing environmental damage (e.g. floods, earthquakes, landslides, cloudburst etc)?

Yes The topography of the contract area, lying in river plain, is such that it can be affected due to disaster in the form of flash flood during monsoon period. However, during monsoon period, no mining activities have been envisaged, thus the attendant risk to the mine workers is non-existent. The contract area lies within Seismic Zone- II as per seismic zoning map of India. The mine contract area does not house any structure.

9. Factors which should be considered (such as consequential development) which could lead to environmental effects or the potential for cumulative impacts with other existing or planned activities in the locality. S. No. Information/Checklist confirmation Yes/No Details thereof (with approximate quantities/

rates, wherever possible) with source of information data

9.1 Lead to development of supporting facilities, ancillary development or development stimulated by the project which could have impact on the environment e.g. - Supporting infrastructure (roads, power supply, waster or wastewater treatment, etc.) - housing development - extractive industries - supply industries - other

Yes No No No No

The supporting facilities are already in place, which shall be augmented to cater to the additional requirement. Project is resulting in further growth of the surrounding area by increasing direct and indirect employment opportunities in the region.

9.2 Lead to after-use of the site, which could have an impact on the environment.

No Mining site is replenished during monsoon to extracted level hence the ultimate land use of the mine lease area is not change after systematic and scientific mining. The mine site will be filled with soil carried from nearby area by proponent and trees will be planted on it; hence the ultimate land use of the mine lease area will not change after systematic and scientific mining.

9.3 Set a precedent for later developments. Yes Riverbed mining will be channelized the river flow and the present deposition are of good quality and can be used for building industries.

9.4 Have cumulative effects due to proximity to other existing or planned projects with similar effects.

No Other leases for Bajri mining in the other reaches of the river in the district have been allotted. There is increase in road traffic for material transport/ dispatch.
