I pray that this finds you well. Our Transition Team has been diligently working to find us a transitional minister, formerly called interim. They have narrowed it down to a few and have been interviewing and listening to sermons. Hopefully, we will have the Transitional Pastor in place before too long. Meanwhile, the Tech Team has offered live streaming on Sunday mornings so that we may have worship together with our supply Pastors. A big thanks to Rob Evans for bringing us inspirational sermons for the month of June, along with the Lay Leaders from our congregation. Connie and Shelley, thank you for your beautiful music you have provided each week. We are so fortunate to be able to have a worship service to hear God's word. On June 14th, we shared communion. Johnny and Sydney Beck have given so much of their time and talents by preparing communion for us through the years. Although our communion was virtual for the congregation, Johnny went to the Church to prepare the elements for those who were in the Sanctuary. Johnny and Sydney, we appreciate your dedication and service to our Church. The Session has been working through this transition. Richard Goff is heading the committee to determine when and how we will reopen our Church. There are so many factors to consider, and it will not be an easy fix. The Presbytery gave guidelines to consider as we define this pathway. Please be prayerful and patient with the Session as we are making these decisions. Last Fall, our Session adopted a resolution from the Presbytery's Peace and Justice Committee to work on race relations. They charged us with developing a plan to have at least one project to encourage collaborative relationships within our community. Bill Keesler agreed to head this important committee, and more information will be presented as they begin this important work. On June 14th, the Congregation was invited to attend a Zoom meeting of the Installation of Elders. The Elder class of 2022 was examined by the Session and installed by our Moderator, Pastor Brian Rummage. The new Elder class will begin serving July 1. I pray that this finds you well. OurTransition Team has been diligentlyworking to find us a transitionalminister, formerly called interim. Theyhave narrowed it down to a few andhave been interviewing and listening tosermons. Hopefully, we will have theTransitional Pastor in place before toolong.

Meanwhile, the Tech Team has offeredlive streaming on Sunday mornings sothat we may have worship togetherwith our supply Pastors. A big thanksto Rob Evans for bringing usinspirational sermons for the month ofJune, along with the Lay Leaders fromour congregation. Connie and Shelley,thank you for your beautiful music youhave provided each week. We are sofortunate to be able to have a worshipservice to hear God's word.

As my time of serving as Clerk of theSession comes to an end, I want tothank you all for allowing me to havethis responsibility at our Church. Ithas been my privilege and honor. Ifeel that we are going in a gooddirection and have the opportunity tocontinue to grow and develop our faithas we welcome new leadership. Yourprayers for the Session are needed asthey make these important choices. God be with you during this time offearful isolation. We need healing,physically and mentally, in ourcommunity, nation and world. Reachout to your neighbors safely and letthem know you are there. A phone callor card means so much.

We will continue online worship forthe month of June. We are on SummerSchedule, which means that ourworship service will begin at 10 AM,and our Adult Sunday School willbegin at 9 AM.

Worship is now being live-streamedrather than pre-recorded. This meansthat, when you tune in at 10 AMSunday morning, what you see will behappening live, in real-time.

“Let us hold unswervingly to the hopewe profess, for He who promised isfaithful. And let us consider how wemay spur one another on toward loveand good deeds, not giving up meetingtogether as some are in the habit ofdoing, but encouraging one another -and all the more as you see the Dayapproaching” (Hebrews 10: 23-25).

Our physical doors closed March 15, but our SundaySchool and worship have continued in creative ways.Meredith led Adult and Children’s Sunday Schoolthrough Zoom. Due to summer scheduling, we endedChildren’s Sunday School on May 31.

Our children participated in virtual Bible School,entitled “Knights of the North Castle.” On June 4,children were treated to a Sunset Slush as they pickedup VBS bags filled with activities for each day. Forthose who have not yet accessed the videos, they areavailable on our YouTube channel(https://tinyurl.com/fpclexncYouTube). Adult Sunday School is continuing to Zoom at 9:00AM Sunday mornings. We just started a four-weekseries entitled “The Art of Neighboring” throughRightNow Media. Zoom is definitely not the same as“in person” Sunday School; however, it is a means tostay connected, share prayer requests, and studyGod’s Word! ONLINE MEETINGS

We continue to use Zoom, a video conferencingprogram that can be run on a computer or a smartphone, to conduct virtual meetings. It allows us tomeet together, to see each other, and to talk just likewe are in a room together.

If you have a computer or smart phone, we encourageyou to download the application and install it. Thiswill allow you to participate in whatever onlinegatherings we might have, including Sunday school.

Please note: Zoom has begun requiring passwords forsome meetings. If Zoom requires a password, pleaseenter fpclexnc.

• Once you call this access number, you will beprompted for a “Meeting ID followed by the #sign.” You then put in the 9 digit Meeting IDnumber with the #sign.

• Each “meeting” has a different Meeting IDnumber.

• You will be asked for a participant ID followedby the # sign. Just press #. We do not use thisfunction.

• You will be asked to say your name followed bythe #sign. Once you hit the # sign you will beadded to the meeting.

We will stream the audio of the worship service onSunday at 10 a.m. over a Zoom meeting for those whodo not have computers or smart phones. All you haveto do is follow the above directions and use themeeting ID: 295 249 020. Once you have joined, youwill be able to hear the audio from the worshipservice.

NUTS ON A MISSION

FOOD PANTRY COLLECTIONS

As part of our local mission work, wecollect mixed vegetables for Pastor'sPantry each month. We are settingourselves a goal of 125 cans per month.

Your donations of canned mixed vegetables may beplaced in the Pastor's Pantry crates in the churchlobby.

Your peanut butter offering for Crisis Ministry is distributed to familiesand individuals in need through their foodpantry. Our monthly goal is to collect 125

jars of peanut butter. Your continued faithfulness tothis small but important offering is greatlyappreciated!

SHELTER OVERNIGHT STAYSWe supply volunteers to stay overnight at the HomelessShelter on the 3rd and 4th Wednesdays of each month.During this time of Coronavirus Protection Protocol,we do not know what Crisis Ministry's plan is withrespect to our overnight hosts. Please contact ourshelter liaison Craig Koontz at 336-575-5096 [email protected], to find out about stayingovernight and whether this will also be suspended.
