Introduction
Following the wonderfully generous donation to Garin
College from Nancy May Black (known as Twinkle to most)
the College is privileged to announce the availability of a
number of scholarships for the 2022 academic year.
Applications are encouraged from those students who are
able to demonstrate outstanding potential in academic,
sporting, cultural, leadership and faith based activities and
also those in need of financial support to attend the College.
Scholarship Criteria
New or existing students to Garin College.
Applicants must be a New Zealand citizen or permanent resident.
Scholarship holders will be expected to participate in the wider life of Garin College including sports, arts and service and to represent Garin College at events and competitions.
Scholarships are reviewed by the School Principal mid-year and at the end of each year
with cancellation of a scholarship possible if the agreed goals for the year have not been met.

Scholarship process:
Applications must be received at the school by 27 August 2021. You will be advised if an interview is
required. We will endeavour to notify all applicants in writing of the outcome of the scholarship
application by the end of term 3.
The decision of the Scholarship Committee is final.
Scholarships are reviewed by the Principal mid-year and at the end of the year with cancellation of a
scholarship possible if the agreed goals for the year have not been met.
Checklist:
o Completed scholarship application form
o Principal’s endorsement form to be sent separately to Garin College
o Two referees to support your application – a letter from them to support your application to
be sent directly to Garin College
o Copy of NZ birth certificate or current passport showing NZ Permanent Residency
o Copy of applicant’s latest school report
o Copy of other certificates relevant to your application
o A recent photograph
