• Complete one original pair poetry writing assignment for the class based on art or music with no lyrics with your model poem

• Design a poetic devices cheat sheet for the class with ORIGINAL examples (Publisher, Adobe)

• Respond to a to a poem via a blog/wiki—well-written, no slang or texting language (Web 2.0 application)

• Attend and review a Poetry Slam downtown at Coffee Underground (http://witsendpoetry.com/)

Unit Vision

• My vision for this unit is to increase my students’ understanding of, analysis of, and appreciation for poetry. Students will be dealing with poems on the multiple-choice portion of the AP exam, and they will also be asked to compose an essay about a poem or poems.
