  • Ormiston Victory ApprenticeshipsOrmiston Victory Academy is an enterprising school, focused on raising aspiration and creating opportunity. We've teamed up with innovative social enterprise Swarm Apprenticeships to create four new jobs here on the Costessey campus. Each apprentice works to support student progress, as well as gaining a

Swarm will provide training, support and lots of encouragement to set and achieve measurable goals.

Swarm was established in 2013 by social entrepreneur and

joined Swarm as Director at the end of July. Chris will be responsible for strengthening Swarm's links with schools and recruiting businesses as Swarm employers.

Two of the four positions are to support Victorys Intervention

and examination preparation they will be trained to support students in and out of lessons and maintain contact with families.

He said: The concept of the apprenticeship scheme arose from my desire to give something back and pass on the knowledge I have gained whilst working in education. Other people believed in my skills and personal ambitions. Its simply about helping the next generation succeed in life, and working hard to ensure their dreams become reality in the not so distant future.

opportunities: I am delighted we have had such excellent support

apprenticeships in a setting where they can inspire other young people. Educational employers provide a range of permanent posts

Victorys sponsor, Ormiston, is rooted in changing young lives. This opportunity is absolutely in tune with Ormistons core belief that we work to give young people the best opportunities and this isnt restricted to those who have been educated under one academys roof.

    Shalom! Ciao!

    Salve!

Students this year had the opportunity to try out more unusual languages for the European Day of Languages on the 26th September.

students took language master classes. Students practiced introducing themselves and in the Hebrew classes, learnt how to read a completely new alphabet from right to left!

Miss Sheldrake held whole academy assemblies on the importance of learning languages. Candidates with languages on their CV are

over their lifetime thanks to their linguistic skills. This aside from the doors that travelling and meeting new people and cultures

Baraza, British Values & Our AcademyBaraza is the name for the Student Council here at Ormiston Victory Academy. The name comes from a Swahili word for a council of wise or learned people, and is attended every Monday morning by two representatives from each form group, as well as our Ambassador team, members from the Senior Leadership Team of the academy, and myself. This round-table council is an opportunity for our students to raise any concerns which they may have about any aspect of the academy, be it the canteen, uniform, rules, rewards or sanctions. Our form representatives ask for the opinions of their peers and ideas for improving the academy, vote on new ideas and measures, and help to keep an eye out for issues around the academy.

Our system of student government and feedback is a great example of the British values which we take pride in. These

understood to be important the world over. According to

tolerance, respect for the rule of law, belief in personal and social responsibility and respect for British institutions.

We are proud of our student council here at Ormiston Victory Academy. It gives our students the freedom to express their opinions and their beliefs without judgment. It encourages them to be tolerant of the views of others, and accept the

them to understand how the rule of law is an extension of the desire to keep people safe, happy and healthy.

It develops within them the understanding that the British Isles, and all of Her inhabitants, have a shared collective responsibility to be caring, egalitarian and tolerant, and also the responsibility to stand up for those values when they see them being abused or forgotten.

It makes us proud to be part of a greater whole, whilst allowing us to be proud of the individual as well.Mr Wilson, Teacher of Art and Head of Student Voice
