GOING SOCIAL: STRENGTHENING YOUR BRAND THROUGH ONLINE ENGAGEMENT Wednesday, Jan. 25, 8:00 - 10:00 am Business Management Track In this presentation, learn how an engaging approach to social media empowers you to broadcast your message and brand in a way that was once only possible through direct media exposure. Learn the differences between broadcast and customer service focused approaches to online communication, and the basics of social media advertising, including a live demonstration on how to target specific audiences for the greatest return on investment. Finally, you will be introduced to advanced tools for social media monitoring and automation. Examples of successful social media campaigns, utilizing best practices, will be highlighted throughout the presentation to emphasize the benefit of audience engagement with your brand. Jordan Whitt is the Director of Marketing and Communications for the Chimney Safety Institute of America. He handles everything from press releases and media relations to photography and video production. A strong believer in the power of “social good,” Jordan serves on the executive board of Indy Social Media, a nonprofit designed to educate local business owners and volunteers as a disaster public affairs spokesperson for the American Red Cross in Indiana. He also works with the Indiana Department of Homeland Security, managing social media feeds and radio and television interviews during emergency operations. Darcy Marlett is the Director of Communications and Marketing for the National Chimney Sweep Guild. In addition to overseeing the association’s communications, she is the editor of Sweeping Magazine, a monthly publication. She has presented on small business social media at the Hearth, Patio, and Barbecue Association (HPBA) Expo and the National Chimney Sweep Guild (NCSG) annual convention. She is a graduate of Indiana University and volunteers with the Junior League of Indianapolis and the Eiteljorg Museum of Art.
