PROJECT WORK
Title : Automation of rapping system using Real Time Clock
(R.T.C).
Power Plant : Neyveli Lignite Corporation (TPS-II), Neyveli.
Description : The ESP (Electrostatic Precipitator) at thermal
power plant
filters fly ash from flue gas. Before it is freed to the
atmosphere through the chimney. This filtration helps to
maintain the ecological balance. The dispensing of fly ash
is carried out by hammer like mechanisms driven by
electrical motors known as rapping motors, which are
controlled manually. The period of operation depends upon
the load condition.
We designed and developed an Embedded Based System,
which senses the load conditions at Electrodes and
automatically dispenses the fly ash. We use RTC, which
sets up the time for rapping motors.
Result : The Automation of rapping system using RTC behaved
satisfactorily for various loads, It Improves the efficiency
of ESP, and provides status to control room.
