Last Saturday the Weekender was once again out and about. The NCL’s Art & Craft Markets was where the action was so Rob settled for stage right, and from his perfect vantage point he was able to wax lyrical about many of the wonderful stalls. But it wasn’t all just talk, many a great tune was needed to play and most importantly of all...A legend to be found! Last weeks “Champion Business” was “Gove Vet Services” and Dr. Sue had kindly offered a brilliant aquarium starter pack as the choice prize for our latest “Local Legend.” A draw needed to be held to discover that very champion shopper who through many great local shopping deeds was about to become Legendary. Kelly Murray from GTO was on hand and showed great poise as an entry plucker...And the name she plucked, was none other than Sonia Campbell, our latest “Local Legend!” Congratulations Sonia and keep shopping for your chance to join the winners circle.

Sleeveheads Get Into The Swing!Local music machines deliver the tunes at Junior Golf Competition.Rob Stewart

On Sunday just gone Allan Fanning, captain of the Gove Country Golf Club put together a great day of sport and entertainment with the Golfy’s Junior Golf Championship. Those in attendance played some great golf, learnt some new skills and were then showered with prizes, a mean BBQ and live music from Nhulunbuy’s latest rising talents the Sleeveheads. The boys were sounding great and rock solid on their original compositions and with time these will only sound better and better. The Sleeveheads will be playing at the upcoming Garma Festival as well as returning to the Golfy for the Variety bash and then it’s off to Darwin for the big showcase gig. All the best boys.
