History of GPS Music Concerts Since its inception in 1999, each of the schools in the Association has been privileged to host this key event in the GPS calendar. The Gold Coast Arts Centre, the Old Museum, the Empire Theatre in Toowoomba, the Ipswich Civic Centre and the Queensland Conservatorium of Music (Southbank) have all been splendid venues for this magnificent celebration of music in our schools.

The objectives of the GPS Music Day are to: · celebrate and promote the musical talent of our students and staff · develop a sense of community amongst all the music staff and students in our GPS schools · provide a challenging musical experience in a workshop-style day · create an opportunity for students and staff to work with a noted guest conductor · allow students to showcase their musical talents in a Grand Concert forum

We have been fortunate to have enjoyed the involvement of many dedicated staff, tutors and professional musicians who have contributed enormously to the musical development of our students since the inaugural event. Many former students would attest to the fact that their participation in this day was a rewarding and memorable experience. Tonight, in our 10th Anniversary year, we come together once again to celebrate the achievements of the many talented staff and students in our schools who have made this event such an outstanding highlight in the GPS calendar. May the tradition of excellence continue for many years to come.

Acknowledgements The success of GPS Music Day relies on the dedication of many people. We gratefully acknowledge the efforts and contributions of the many music staff, tutors, administrative staff and other personnel who have helped make the event a success, with a special mention to the GPS Music Sub-Committee members:
