Round 2 Game Times
From the President…
Well season 2015 has started and probably not the way we
would have wanted to. Obviously the Saints are in a rebuild
phase after several players moved away with employment at
the end of last season. We need to focus on the development
of our youth players and support their movement into senior
football.
The ladies are looking good and have become valued
members of our club. The girls play Sunday and we will be
supporting the women’s league by opening the bar and having
a BBQ after the game.
Let’s get together and stick together in a year that will challenge our clubman ship.

Senior Men Face Bakers Creek
Our senior saint’s team will be chasing after a convincing win against Bakers Creek this Saturday after a disappointing loss to the extremely strong Mackay City Hawks in round 1. Our seniors will be once again looking for the older and more experienced players to lead some of the key young guns who will be stepping up as there are a number of players sidelined due to injuries. Senior coach Craig ‘Swinger’ Horwood believes support will be the key to each of the North Mackay Saints team’s suc-cess not just the senior men. A football club becomes strong when each team comes down and encourage the others. We need support for each other between the tight unit of players as well as from our members on the sideline. After having the bye in round 1 our North Mackay reserves team will also be aiming to come out strong and looking for a win in their first game for the year against the Eastern Swans.
Team Fundraising
With the start of the season fund-raising ventures for the teams have also kicked off! Here we had the lovely Shannon promoting an Easter raffle for the ladies teams. Be sure to help out the fundraising efforts of our Saints teams and you can have the chance to win some great prizes!

North Mackay Saints Ladies Team
The North Mackay Ladies team are eager to start their second season in the Mackay Women’s competition against
the Eastern Swans on Sunday at 1pm. The team enjoyed an extra week of recovery after the Airlie Beach
pre-season carnival due to being given the bye for round 1 of the season. The girls did extremely well and showed
strong perseverance during the carnival and made it to the grand final. The girls were awarded runners up of the
carnival as they were defeated by last seasons premiers Magpies in the final. However the defeat has made them
more determined to win this season. Ladies coach Craig Jenkins believes they are really strong contenders this year
and have significantly improved their fitness and skills from last season. The ladies team also have some new
recruits this season and although having never played any contact sport before, are really embracing the game and
stepping up to the new challenge.
The girls play at 1.00pm Sunday at our home grounds so make sure you come and cheer them on!
Helpers

if people could pitch in and
share the work load around.

Successful Start To the Junior Season!
The U9’s & 11’s season kicked off in great spirits with a Carnival at Mirani 29th March. All sides contested the ball with great skill and enthusiasm, and revelled in the occasional shower of rain. Teams that were down on numbers were soon filled up with opposition players on a bye eager to get their hands on more footy. Well done to the volunteers that worked tirelessly throughout the day with a BBQ and drinks stall, and officials and coaching staff that did an amazing job to ensure all kids got a kick. Great way to start the year!
