Resilience Respect Excellence Pride NO ASSEMBLY THIS FRIDAY, THE NEXT ASSEMBLY IS FRIDAY 21ST SEPTEMBER 9.00am
Australian Maths Competition Results The results are in and our students did an exceptional job. Out of the 64 students who sat the
competition, more than 50% of our kids were in the top 50% of the State.
There were 7 Distinction awards and 30 Credit awards achieved by our kids. This year Aryan
Rothwell won the Best in School Award achieving a result that put him in the top 4% of his age
group.
Grade 1/2 PBL Play Presentations! Well done to all Grade One and Twos, who shared their "Where We Are In Place And Time" PBL unit plays on Friday in their classrooms. Parents/carers/special people were invited to watch students share what they have learnt about how homes and landscapes have changed across time and place.
Each pair of students worked hard on their script, researching their chosen place and its features. Students were very knowledgeable about their chosen times/places and spoke confidently.
From the Principle
Melbourne Camp I’m very excited as I’m off to Melbourne on Monday with the Grade 6 students. The assistant principal, Luke
Jeffers, will be available if you have any questions/concerns while I am away.
Just a reminder that students are to be at school by 6.30am, for a 7.00am departure. We expect to return on Friday at 2.30pm. Please check the school’s Facebook page after 12.00pm to confirm the time.
PBL Celebrations last Friday Our Grade 1 /2 and Grade 3/4 Project Based Learning celebrations last Friday were fantastic.
Our children were very proud of their learning and shared with such Pride.
Lots of parents, carers and friends popped in to be part of their child’s learning – we really appreciate you
finding this time.
Poetry Everyone has been reading and writing poetry and it’s been simply amazing.
I’ve popped a few into this Newsletter as examples.
Children are writing from their hearts and their poems are inspiring.
Please take the time to listen to your child’s poetry – they are just beautiful. I have cried and laughed over
every single one of them.
MWPS Concert Our dance teacher, Karen Wilcock has started teaching our kids their moves for our big concert. The kids
are having a great time learning their dance. The concert is on November 20th & 21st. I’m sure it will be as
fabulous as previous years.
Last School Assembly for this term - next Friday at 9.00am We will be having our last school assembly next Friday.
Our G5 students from Mr Kerridge’ s class will be sharing their poems – we would love to see lots of friends
and families at our last assembly.
Last Friday, the Year 3 and 4 students showcased their knowledge of forces at their ‘How the World Works Expo’. The central idea for their learning was: ‘Forces can be exerted from one object to another’. Students learnt about the forces of motion, gravity, magnetism and friction by experimenting, questioning and researching. They were then given the challenge of creating a Marble Run that used all of the forces to control the marble. The Expo was a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the learning and to teach others about how force can be used in our lives. It was great to see so many parents, carers and families at the Expo. The students did such an amazing job presenting their learning and demonstrating how their Marble Runs worked. A highlight for the Year 3s and 4s was teaching lots of other children from our school about force, even the Grade 5s and 6s!

Fairy Floss
Fairy floss looks like sticky clouds up in the sky waving in the wind
Fairy floss feels like smooth windy clouds
Fairy floss smells like mints in the green mint box
Fairly floss tastes like beautiful red strawberries in my mouth
Fairy floss sounds so crunchy like mints in my mouth

No, I don’t wear makeup No, I don’t wear dresses I don’t have long hair And I don’t do, a fancy hair do And I don’t sing like an angel And I don’t get the fashion trends And I don’t think boys are gross And I don’t think we are all equal No matter what gender we are Yes, I am a girl And I don’t do and wear all these things And I think girls like me Should be free, to be Whatever they want to be

Good Night When you find a dream inside your heart
Store it up and keep it tight You should never be afraid of abandoning a dream
Sleep tight, catch a new dream and have a good night

Strong and bright Come out at night
Sparkle in the stars bright You’ll love in the day
Look in her eyes You’ll see twilight
Her eyes are gold, like the sun Make her happy everyone

Mum You take to me to school
We go to the pool I kiss you and hug you every time
You give me ideas of a rhyme We go in the car
Because school is too far You’re kind and you care You make everything fair Your eyes are like sunlight
They glow at night I love you so much from my heart I’d decorate you with my best art
