2 Times Table
Double it! Two times a number simply means add the number twice.
2 x 2 is actually 2 + 2 and 2 x 6 is the same as 6 + 6.
We can also skip count in twos to arrive at our answer, 0, 2, 4, 6, 8...

2x2=4 or 2 groups of two
2x3=6 or 3 groups of two

We keep adding 2s, therefore the missing value is 10.

We keep adding 10s, therefore the missing value is 30.

We keep adding 3s, therefore the missing values are 12 and 15.

Expanded notation is when we write out the number by showing the
value of each digit. Place value or arrow cards are a great way of
showing the value of each digit.
Note: Expanded notation can be written in both number and word
forms.

Numeral expander shows how a number can be expressed in
different ways. It is made by folding strips of paper.
PRACTICE EXAMPLES:
John was asked to write the number to represent 52 hundreds, 4 tens
and 3 ones or five thousand two hundred forty-three.
This is what he wrote 5 243.
Is John correct? Yes, he is.
5 243 is actually 5 000 + 200 + 40 + 3 or 5 200 + 40 + 3 or
5 thousands +2 hundreds + 4 tens +3 ones
