They have hiked hundreds of miles of national park trails, slept under the stars and have done almost every activity there is, and are keen to introduce you to the places that they call home. Our tour leaders will get you from A to B, organise activities and no doubt show you their favourite secret spots along the way. Ultimately they are there to make sure you get the most out of your adventure.

Travel with confidenceWhen you choose to travel with us you can be sure you are in safe hands. Western ExplorerFrom the City by the Bay to Sin City, explore the man-made and natural wonders of the West.

Yosemite Valley, Antelope Slot Canyon and the mighty Grand Canyon are rivalled only by the beauty of

the Navajos sacred Monument Valley and the natural wonders of Death Valley.

Four States: California, Nevada, Utah and Arizona

    Itinerary

Day 1 San Francisco L Youve arrived in the City by the Bay in sunny California. Explore the bustling streets of North Beach and Chinatown before your welcome meeting at 18:00 hrs this evening.

Day 2 San Francisco > Yosemite National Park L From the Golden Gates of San Francisco, make tracks for Yosemite National Park where everything is super-sized, including some of North Americas tallest cliffs, waterfalls and trees.

Day 3/4 Yosemite National Park L Explore the park by taking a walk through the meadows and valleys, keeping your eyes peeled for varied wildlife such as deer, elk, and if youre lucky, bear. Gaze up at Giant Sequoia trees and test your hiking legs on a jaunt to Yosemite Falls or El Capitan. The wide open spaces, towering mountains and natural beauty of Yosemite is something youll never forget.

Day 5 Death Valley National Park L One of the hottest, driest and lowest places on earth is blessed with some of the most extreme and beautiful landscapes. Sculpted by erosion, richly tinted mudstone hills and canyons await exploration, whilst sand dunes and salt pans make for some exceptional photos.

Day 6/7 Zion National Park L Like an oasis rising up from the desert floor, Zions multi-coloured cliffs and spring-fed hanging gardens are spectacular. Discover the history of Zion, before taking in the panoramic landscape from Angels Landing

or strolling the banks of the Virgin River or The Narrows for more intimate views.

Day 8 Bryce Canyon National Park L Peruse the rust-coloured formations of Red Canyon before continuing on to Bryce Canyon National Park to see how the elements have created beautiful and strange rock formations called hoodoos. Hike the Navajo Loop Trail or walk the Rim Trail as the sunset colours the sandstone hoodoos in pale hues of pink, gold and red, its a truly stunning sight!

Day 9 Lake Powell L Returning south along Scenic Highway 89, you descend from the high plateau to the arid plains and past the Vermillion Cliffs to Glen Canyon and Lake Powell. Visit stunning Antelope Slot Canyon with a Navajo guide and see how natural flash floods have shaped and polished the slender crevasse. Take a dip in the refreshing waters to cool off in the late afternoon sunshine.

Day 10 Monument Valley L Stop at Horseshoe Bend for an amazing view of the Colorado River flowing way below you. Later, come face to face with the flaming red spires and buttes that have served as a backdrop for countless Western films in Monument Valley. Learn more about the significance of this land that is sacred to the Navajo people with a guided backroads tour followed by a traditional meal the Navajo taco.

Day 11/12 Grand Canyon National Park L Overwhelming in real life, the Grand Canyon is a natural wonder and awe-inspiring from any angle. Walk the Bright Angel Trail to Plateau Point deep

inside the canyon, or stroll along the more leisurely West Rim Trail. Learn how the Grand Canyon was formed and visit the IMAX Theater for The Grand Canyon Experience or perhaps board a helicopter ( ) to get high above the canyon to see its true magnitude. Top it all off by watching the sun set over this spectacular landscape.

Day 13 Route 66 > Hoover Dam > Las Vegas En route to Vegas you travel a section of the original Route 66, visiting the quirky Americana-themed town of Seligman. Stop for a view of the Hoover Dam before arriving in the hedonistic Sin City, which really has to be seen to be believed. This desert city comes alive at night with casinos, shows and the Bellagio Fountains regular displays. Why not add on a few days to experience all Vegas has to offer?

    Itinerary

Day 1 North Scottsdale L Welcome to North Scottsdale, the day is at your leisure.

Day 2 North Scottsdale > Grand Canyon National Park South Rim > Bright Angel Campground An early start and drive to the South Rim of the Grand Canyon brings you to the starting point of your hike. Upon arrival, you begin by hiking down the South Kaibab Trail which offers superb views of the canyons unique landscape. Todays hike is seven miles (11.26km) and 4,800ft (1,460 metres) down to Bright Angel Campground and takes five and a half hours on average to complete. Youll have the opportunity to visit Phantom Ranch and Boat Beach along the Colorado River.

Day 3 Cottonwood Campground Following a full breakfast to prepare you for the day ahead, youll pack up camp and head towards the North Rim continuing along the North Kaibab Trail. Today you will cover seven miles (11.26km) with a 1,500ft (457m) gain in elevation before reaching Cottonwood Campground. This campground has only 11 pitches (approx.) and is very peaceful. Theres running water and composting toilets, as well as Bright Angel Creek to take a dip in or just sit by and relax. The average time to hike to Cottonwood Campground is approximately four and a half hours, so theres time for side hikes upon arrival.

Day 4 North Rim Early this morning you continue along the North Kaibab Trail to the North Rim. The hike covers seven miles (11.26km) with a 4,200ft (1,300 metres) gain in elevation before reaching the rim.

Once at the top you have another mile to cover before reaching the campground on the rim. Be prepared for a colder night and the possibility of snow on the ground as youll be camping at over 8,000ft (2,400 metres) in elevation. The average time to the top is approximately six hours.

Day 5 Cottonwood Campground Today you begin your hike back towards the South Rim and return the way you came along the North Kaibab Trail covering the seven miles (11.26km) and 4,200ft (1,300 metres) down to Cottonwood Campground. It takes an average of five hours to reach Cottonwood Campground.

Day 6: South Rim This is a big day and perhaps the biggest of the hikes so its good youve had days of preparation to build up to it. This morning you pack up and hike along Bright Angel Creek to Bright Angel Campground stopping briefly at Ribbon Falls.

Day 7 Indian Gardens We start the hike back to the South Rim along the Bright Angel Trail (8km) and set up camp at Indian Gardens. The hike takes you to an elevation of 1,400ft. Enjoy sunset views of the inner circle and Colorado River from Plateau Point.

Day 8 South Rim > North Scottsdale After that its up, up and away to the top of the South Rim before your transfer back to North Scottsdale. Todays nine and a half mile hike is mostly uphill and youll gain 3,000ft over the course of the day. The drive back to North Scottsdale will take approximately four hours.

Please do not book a flight out of North Scottsdale before 21:00 hrs.

Dories are specially designed row boats. Youll feel the surge of the current beneath your feet as you listen for the thunder of an approaching rapid, drift through calm pools, explore lesser known side canyons and enjoy the most in-depth Grand Canyon experience you could possibly imagine.
