Use trash receptacles for garbage and use the recycling bins provided for aluminum cans and bottles. Treat the event bathrooms as you would your own. Your help in this matter improves the convention for everyone! Keep all activities in the convention hall appropriate for general audience and children. While we want everyone to enjoy themselves, this is a family-friendly convention and attendees must respect that.

The Grand Rapids Comic-Con is not responsible for solving any interpersonal problems that may arise between individuals attending the event. In general, we can take no action to prevent a person from attending the convention unless that person has made a specific and credible threat toward the convention itself. That said, if you feel threatened, assaulted, harassed, or bullied while attending the convention, please notify staff or security personnel immediately and we will take appropriate action. Please know that false accusations will be treated as acts of harassment perpetrated by the accuser. Our Staff and Security team will work to resolve the matter in the fairest way possible, but we cannot accept responsibility for resolving interpersonal disputes. In cases without credible evidence, the Grand Rapids Comic-Con reserves the right to ask both parties to leave the convention if a mutually agreeable resolution cannot be found. If you feel that a threat exists against your person or your life, we advise you to seek a court-approved Personal Protection Order (PPO) against the individual in question.question. If you have a previous PPO from a past problem and feel that the individual in which you filed against would attend the Grand Rapids Comic-Con we encourage you to inform the event of the potential problem. • That ONE TeamThat ONE Team is a community-based high school robotics team based out of Belmont, Michigan.

ThoughThough That ONE Team is new to FRC, we are not new to FIRST. We started as LEGO in Paradise in 2006 as a FIRST LEGO League team, and were successful right from the beginning we won tournaments and had an impact in our community by starting other FLL teams. Those teams led to the creation of Paradise Teams, the organization that sponsors That ONE Team. We retired from FLL in 2011 after attending the World Festival, however in 2013 while attending the 2013 FIRST Championship as spectators, we decided that we needed to start an FRC team. Since wewe had some experiencedFIRST members and there were no other FRC teams in our area, it was a good fit. And thus, Team 4967 was born.

As That ONE Team came together and began making plans to form an FRC team, we brainstormed about what made our team unique, and also what made our community unique and what we could do to help protect and enhance it. We realized that one of the distinctive aspects of our community is that it is surrounded by water rivers, inland lakes, and the Great Lakes. These waterways are crucial to the history, economy and environment of our region, and impact our lives every single day. That ONE Team decided that we would focus our service on water-related issues in our communitcommunity. In September 2014, we participated in the 10th Annual Mayors Grand River Cleanup, where we spent a Saturday cleaning along the banks of the Grand River in downtown Grand Rapids. In October, we participated with Trout Unlimited and the Rogue River Home Rivers Initiative to do stream insect monitoring on the Rogue and several of her tributaries. In November, we have invited Nichol DeMol from Trout Unlimited to visit a team meeting and teach us more about what some of the specific water related issues in our area are, and how That ONE Team can reach out to help.

You can reach That ONE Team on the internet at www.thatoneteam.org.

  • JAMES OBARRJamesJames OBarr is the award-winning creator of The Crow, and writer of two hit series currently from IDW Publishing, entitled Curare and Skinning The Wolves. He likes to lament that he was born in a trailer in Detroit just in time to see Marilyn Monroe and John Kennedy die, but claims no responsibility for either. While stationed in Berlin, in the late 70s he created The Crow as an attempt to deal with the death of his fiance at the hands of a drunk driver. It took nearly ten years to finish and no publisher was interested in it (too gloomy, too confusing..) until, on a whim, Caliber published the first issue in 1989. It is currently the best selling independent graphic novel of all time at over one million copies sold.Caliber published the first issue in 1989.
