HABBERLEY & BLAKEBROOK CONSERVATIVES

SUCCESS AT LAST For Selba Drive Residents

After working closely with his District Council colleagues Ken Prosser and Ian Hardiman and applying constant pressure, County Councillor Marcus Hart is delighted to report that Selba Drive has now been completely resurfaced.

Marcus says, “This is excellent news for the residents of Selba Drive and I was only too pleased to give this scheme my full support.”

Ken added, “I am grateful that the County Council has been able to allocate resources to finally resurface this road. I am sure the residents will be very pleased.”

NEW STREET NAMEPLATE

For Western WayCouncillor Ken Prosser is pleased to announce that, together with Councillor Marcus Hart who has Cabinet Responsibility at Wyre Forest for street nameplates, he has had a new nameplate installed on Western Way.

It is essential that street name plates are kept visible and in a good state of repair, so if you have a street nameplate that is missing or damaged, please contact the team.

WARD SURGERY Resounding Success

Your Habberley and Blakebrook Team held another ward surgery recently where a number of residents attended to raise their concerns and discuss a number of local issues including: highway resurfacing, anti-social behaviour, litter hot spots and planning issues.

Councillor Ken Prosser says, “I would like to thank all the residents who attended for raising their local issues with us. If you were not able to come along but do need help from your local councillor please do not hesitate to contact us.”

STOP PRESS: St John’s School Building/Refurbishment

Despite the disappointment of the cancellation of the B.S.F. Programme, which would have provided a new building for St. John’s Primary School, we are pleased that Worcestershire County Council has included the school in its Schools’ Improvement Programme and will provide approximately £1m for necessary building and refurbishment works.

WORKING FOR YOU ALL YEAR ROUND!

£10,000 For County Councillors’ Community Fund

St Johns County Councillor, Marcus Hart, and St Barnabas’ County Councillor, Anne Hingley, are pleased to announce that all Worcestershire County Councillors have been allocated the sum of £10,000 to spend on community projects within their division.

Local residents will be acutely aware that the county council is having to remodel some of the services that it delivers (and in some cases cut services either in part or completely) due to the financial pressures that it faces. This can have an affect on the community, particularly for voluntary and community groups.

The Conservative-run county council is very keen for communities to be as little affected as possible and wants to enable them to be able to do things for themselves.

Marcus says, “This is excellent news for local residents. I am very keen to support any community project within my division, whether it be a youth group, church group, pensioners’ group, residents’ group or something similar. If you would like an application form, please contact me.”

DOUBLE YELLOW LINES UPDATESt Johns Division

(Moule Close, Cobden Street and Bewdley Road)

County Councillor Marcus Hart is pleased to report that double yellow lines should be installed in Moule Close by the end of the year and ones at the junction of Cobden Street and Bewdley Road should be installed by the end of November.

Marcus says, “I am very pleased that both these schemes are progressing. The Moule Close scheme is going to be advertised for the statutory 28-day period from the end of September and provided there are no objections this scheme will progress.”

Marcus is also pleased to report that, together with Councillor Ian Hardiman, they have had the zigzag yellow lines repainted in St Johns Avenue at the entrance to the school.
