We are delighted to share that Habitat for Humanity GTA has been selected as the charitable partner of the GTA AM Tour. The Tour is hosting a charity tournament in support of Habitat on September 24, 2015 at the prestigious Oviinbyrd Golf Course. Located in picturesque Foot’s Bay, Muskoka, the course was designed by Thomas McBroom and is one of Muskoka’s finest jewels. Normally open to members only, Oviinbyrd Golf Course is a truly coveted Canadian golf destination. Proceeds from this tournament will go towards Habitat GTA’s ongoing homebuilding projects in the community.
Over the course of 2015, we will have activity underway on 42 new homes and this is just the beginning of a ramp-up to our goal of 100 homes every year. With the GTA population projected to grow to 9 million by 2041, the need for affordable home housing has never been greater! On September 24, we guarantee a great day on the links surrounded by Muskoka’s finest fall colours. More than that, your participation and financial contribution are instrumental in fuelling our growth and enabling us to deliver affordable homeownership to more low income families. You will be making an important difference in the lives of families who will experience greater health, educational outcomes, stability and financial security as a result of Habitat’s unique “hand up, not a hand out” model.
We are offering passionate golfers like you two ways to participate in this unique golfing opportunity at Oviinbryd. You may participate as a “Basic Player” for $400 or as a “Prestige Player” at $1800 ($100 per hole). Prestige players have the option of either donating or fundraising to play at the higher level of $100 per hole. Both options include a charitable tax receipt.

Event Details
First opened in 2005, Oviinbyrd is one of Ontario’s most exclusive golf clubs. Located in beautiful Foot’s Bay, Muskoka, the course was designed by Thomas McBroom and is normally open to members only. Canadian Golf calls it “the standout in Muskoka”, and many golfers have admired the elegant tree-lined fairways and unusual layout.

ABOUT THE GTA AM TOUR
The GTA AM Tour began in 2004 with six events, and has grown to feature 24 events at golf courses across southern Ontario. It provides the feel of a “pro” tour for some of Canada’s most skilled and passionate amateur golfers, with the perk of providing access for members to some of Canada’s most exclusive courses.
The GTA AM Tour is strongly audience-driven, seeking to provide great customer service to its members and sponsors, including regular surveys of participants and an annual tour sponsor summit. The GTA AM Tour’s community-oriented feel has led to rapid growth, with over 450 players expected to compete in 2015, bringing along their friends and family members. This customer-focus has created a tremendous loyalty that allows it’s partners to showcase themselves in front of a sympathetic and interested audience.
The GTA AM Tour also offers non-competitive options for players who simply love the game and want to experience the chance to golf on Canada’s finest courses.
Habitat for Humanity GTA builds in Brampton, Caledon, Toronto and York Region. Drawing on over 16,000 volunteers a year, as well as hundreds of local businesses, we are a proven social enterprise built around a powerful partnership model.
The Habitat model harnesses business fundamentals associated with home building, mortgage management, real estate financing and retail operations to give a hand up to help hardworking low income families realize their dream of home ownership. The impact on families is transformational. Family incomes increase. Family health improves. Children do better in school and more often than not go on to post-secondary education. The cycle of poverty is broken.
In 2015, we launched our new strategic plan focused on building the capacity and partnerships to deliver 100 homes every year. The importance of our work has never been greater. Over 60% of all families in need for affordable housing in Ontario living in the GTA and the region’s population is projected to grow by another 3 million people by 2041.
