Habitat for Humanity is known around the world as a builder of quality affordable housing. In West St. Tammany, our affiliate secured the financial resources to build homes through ReStore profits, Habitat homeowners’ mortgage payments and collaborative relationships with local businesses, foundations, churches, synagogues, civic groups, government agencies and individuals. Our affiliate is proud to report that we constructed fifteen new homes, rehabbed two homes and remediated Chinese Drywall on another home during the past fiscal year. We also assisted our sister affiliate, HFH Uganda, by tithing funds to build six homes. In total we directly impacted the lives of twenty four families. However, Habitat for Humanity St. Tammany West goes beyond construction. We also build communities and hope. Through homeownership, families become more involved in their communities, children perform better in school and parents have more career options. In West Abita, we assisted neighborhood residents in their efforts to build a park and in Covington we participated in building a unique neighborhood, the Groves at Mile Branch. Between year round construction and ReStore volunteer opportunities our affiliate brought together 3,256 dedicated volunteers. In the words of Jonathan Reckford, President and CEO Habitat for Humanity International, “We work to provide a solution to the housing crisis in this country and around the world. However, the solution is not simply building, but building up families, building up communities and building up hope.” We still have a lot of work to do to eliminate substandard housing in our community. Therefore, I invite you to increase your volunteer efforts and financial support to ensure that everyone in our community has a safe, decent and affordable place to call home by becoming a Community Partner. By doing so you’ll make West St. Tammany an even better place to live, work, and enjoy.

Habitat for Humanity St. Tammany West’s Mission Statement reads, "Seeking to put God's love into action, Habitat for Humanity brings people together to build homes, communities and hope." During the 2011-2012 fiscal year, our Mission Statement was manifested in a very tangible manner with the dedication of the first six homes in the Groves at Mile Branch. The community consists of owner-occupied single-family and rental multi-family housing units for mixed income residents. The development boasts ample green space, as well as a community center where local human services agencies may offer their services to residents.

The Partner Families who purchased their homes on June 29th are now neighbors in the community. As the families ran into one another, they shared congratulations, talked about moving plans and asked about each other's children. The camaraderie between the families developed through the sweat equity process when they worked on homes and attended classes together. Through the efforts of volunteers, supporters, board members, staff and Partner Families, God's love was truly evident. Their dedication was a joyous one, as

they celebrated the end of their journey to homeownership. It was also memorable for HFHSTW as Adrienne Laborde, Chairwoman of the board, cut the ribbon to officially open Emily Diamond Way, renamed after the late HFHSTW founder Emily Diamond.

The Groves at Mile Branch homebuyers, Anastacia Bergeron, Stephanie Adams, Sarah Cacioppo, Shadrika Brock, Tammy Amos and the Reneau Family.
