Another fortnight has flown by and we are ready to celebrate our first combined assembly for this year. I want to start by acknowledging our wonderful P&C, who organised the Brickfest last Sunday. From all the happy faces I saw on the day, to stories I have heard from people in the community, it was a great success and a lot of fun was had by all who attended. This was our big fundraiser for the year and it could not have happened without the tireless work of the P&C. Special mention to Sarah Stenning, Mel Orchard and Linda Cain for their hard work during the lead up and on the day as well. Well done to all of those involved. We are putting the final touches onto our new 2018 – 2020 School Plan that will set the direction for the school over the next three years. We are placing significance on knowing our students and working together with families to ensure that all of our students achieve success and growth at school and that a year spent at school, is a year of growth. We know that students who enjoy success at school, are generally better positioned to achieve success in their general lives. We are very lucky to be situated at this school so close to the beach. We benefit greatly from lovely sea breezes and generally a lovely climate. Unfortunately, this does come with some disadvantages, in particular a lack of space within the school grounds. With our students safety foremost in our minds I again ask, that parents not use the driveway at the northern end of the school to access the school grounds. With parents driving to the back of the school, often in school hours, it increases the likelihood of there being an incident involving a motor vehicle. If you need to drop your child off who is late to school or pick them up early from school, we ask that you park at the front of the school and attend the office so your child can be signed in or out. Your help with this matter is greatly appreciated. All parents should have had the opportunity to meet with their child’s teacher and sit down with them one-on-one to discuss the upcoming school year and how we are going to achieve success for your child. The teachers have all indicated to me that the process we have in place to meet each parent individually at the beginning of each school year, sets up our students for success. If you haven’t had a chance to meet your child’s teacher, please contact them to make an appointment when it is convenient. I will be taking our leaders down to a conference in Sydney this Sunday & Monday. We will be given the opportunity to listen to speakers who are leaders in their fields and each student, will be given the opportunity to gain insight into what it takes to be a leader. We will be traveling down by mini bus with students from Wingham Brush Public School, Wingham Public School and Mount George Public School. Feedback from previous years has always been positive and indications were that it has been a valuable experience for all those who attend. The “Tell Them From Me” Survey – non consent Form is being sent home with this newsletter. If you do not want your child to take part, please complete and return it to the school by Friday 16 March, 2018. Have a great fortnight Peter Johnson Principal BRICKFEST PRINCIPAL’S REPORT PETER JOHNSON
