Call for Resolutions

Saskatchewan Association of Licensed Practical Nurses Call for Resolution 2010 Annual General Meeting

1. Submission of Resolutions The SALPN Executive Director must receive all resolutions for presentation at the Annual General Meeting before February 22, 2012. This allows sufficient time for review of the Resolutions and for publicizing them to chapters and individual members through the Annual Report.

2. Procedure at Annual Meeting In compliance with the Licensed Practical Nurses Act, 2000, Section 28(1) the procedures at all meetings of the Association and of the Council shall be governed by the procedures contained in Appendix B and in most cases not provided for, by the Rules set out in Procedures for Meetings and Organizations, third edition, M. Kay Kerr and Hubert W. King, (Toronto, Canada: Carswell, 1996.)

Each resolution is read aloud from the Chair and the name of the member who submitted the resolution is stated. The Chair will then call for a mover and a seconder for the proposed resolution. The person moving the resolution will also be called upon to speak to it.

Keynote Speaker

Co-author of Chicken Soup for the Nurses Soul and Chicken Soup for the Nurses Soul: Second Dose

LeAnn Thieman is a nationally acclaimed professional speaker, author, and nurse who was “accidentally” caught up in the Vietnam Orphan Airlift in 1975. Her book, This Must Be My Brother, details her daring adventure of helping to rescue 300 babies as Saigon was falling to the Communists. An ordinary person, she struggled through extraordinary circumstances and found the courage to succeed. LeAnn has been featured in Newsweek Magazine’s Voices of the Century issue, on FOX-TV, BBC, NPR, PBS, PAX-TV’s It’s A Miracle, and countless radio and TV programs.

As a renowned motivational speaker, LeAnn shares life-changing lessons learned from her Airlift experience. Believing we all have individual “war zones,” she inspires people to balance their lives, truly live their priorities and honors them for the difference they make in the world.

LeAnn is one of about ten percent of speakers worldwide to have earned the Certified Speaking Professional designation and in August, 2008 she was inducted into the Speaker Hall of Fame.
