Beginning in the summer of 2015 and through the spring of 2016, advance letters for the MAG Household Travel Survey will arrive at randomly selected households asking residents to go online and answer survey questions. Respon dents will be offered a choice between different survey methods, including a specially-designed GPS device and a smart phone application. The use of a smartphone application to collect household travel information will be the first of its kind in the nation and will reduce the burden on respondents while increasing the accu-racy of the information received. “About one in 200 Valley households will be surveyed,” said MAG Transportation Policy Committee Chair Jack Sellers, Councilmember of Chandler. “Each selected household will repre sent hundreds of other households in the area, so par-ticipation, while completely voluntary, is very important for the overall success of the survey.” Residents wishing to learn more about the survey may visit the MAG website at www.azmag.gov.

WHS Internship ProgramRachel Willis, WHS Counselor

Wickenburg High School is excited to offer internship opportunities this year to our juniors and seniors. We can’t think of a better way for kids to explore what they might want to do after high school then by diving right in and work-ing in the field while they are in high school. Starting this fall, August 2015, any student that is a junior or senior can sign up to do an internship with a business or service organization. The internship can be paid or unpaid. We have tried to make the process as easy as possible for both the students and employers.

The requirement for students is simply that they complete at least 90 hours each semester to earn their credit. Initially, businesses or service organiza-tions can simply, talk directly to a student they are interested in having as an intern or they can e-mail me a description of the internship and I will post it on our job board. If kids are interested in any internship listed on the job board, they will contact the business directly and if a good fit is found, they will bring a one page paper to the business to have signed to confirm the placement.

Students can work an hour a day five days a week or if the business would rather they come five hours on Saturday, any variation would be fine as long as the student completes the 90 hours in a semester and the student and busi-ness are in agreement on the hours required. If you are interested in having a student intern at your business or service organization this fall, please e-mail me a brief description of the internship including the following details:

Name of the business or organization: Name of the person students should contact: Phone #: E-mail: Hours you are looking for someone: Brief description of what you would want/expect the student to do

I think this will be exciting for our kids and I can’t wait to hear about all the cool things they get to experience. If you have any further questions please don’t hesitate to contact me after July 13th, I will return calls and e-mails then.Wickenburg High School, (928) [email protected]
