Message from Katherine Vergos, Fond du Lac Area United Way’s 2018 Board President
Once again, the generosity of the Fond du Lac community has shone through. With your help,
United Way raised $720,000 to invest in programs to ensure that our local cities and towns
are united in the goals we value: great education, health and wellness, and a fair chance at
financial stability.
Our partner agencies deliver on these goals with targeted programs that reach out to meet
those in need and provide the resources to help each person and family aspire to their full
potential. Funds raised in 2018 allowed us to invest in 23 community programs across 20
agencies that serve our area. These partner agencies make a critical difference for our friends and neighbors on a
daily basis.
The 2018 Corporate Pacesetters, Agnesian HealthCare (A member of SSM Health) and J.F. Ahern, led the way in
championing our annual United Way campaign. I’d especially like to thank name, title. Name served as our Hon-
orary Campaign Chair. These corporate supporters brought the enthusiasm and a spirit for service that powered
the campaign to a great result.
We could not invest in our community’s future without the kindness of volunteers throughout the Fond du Lac
area. You raised money, gave of your time and talents, and promoted the Live United spirit in words and deeds.
I’m pleased to share these key 2018 achievements with you:
We developed and refined a strategic plan that will guide our efforts in the years to come. Conversations with
many community leaders and volunteers ensure that the plan reflects the reality of local challenges and op-
portunities. We’re also continuing to work closely with Envision Greater Fond du Lac and the Fond du Lac Ar-
ea Foundation to ensure that residents receive the greatest benefit from the dollars and hours entrusted to
us.
Our annual outreach food packaging event engaged many volunteers and yielded 25,000 packaged meals for food
-insecure families in the community.
A second Born Learning Trail was added; there are now two interactive educational trails for local children and
families – Lakeside Park in Fond du Lac and Columbus Park in Campbellsport. (Next trail: North Fond du Lac!)
I am so proud of our community and the many leaders, volunteers, and advocates who live among us. Your en-
gagement brings out our very best. It has been a great honor to serve as your United Way Board President in
2018.
