HERITAGE HUMANE SOCIETY VOLUNTEER NEWSLETTER
Summer is almost here and we have a LOT going on! We have some exciting programs and events planned for these sunny summer days including our Mega Yard Sale, a Benefit Night at Baker’s Crust, and MORE. We are also hosting Rock Painting Nights at the shelter this summer! Kitten Season is also in full swing and that means we need a lot more supply donations to care for the homeless pets coming through our doors. Please check out the newsletter to learn more. UPCOMING EVENTS
Pet Valu Adoption Event
Saturday, June 22 from 12 PM - 3 PM 6493 Centerville Rd., Williamsburg, VA Join us at Pet Valu Williamsburg for an adoption event! HHS will be there with adoptable pets and information about the shelter! Click HERE to learn more.
We are looking for volunteers to bring adoptable dogs to this event and help with the information table we will have set up.
Mega Yard Sale
Saturday, June 29th 8 AM - 12 PM
Heritage Humane Society, 430 Waller Mill Rd., Williamsburg, VA
We are accepting household donations for the yard sale on June 29. If you have items you are looking to donate you can drop them off at the shelter. If we are closed you can drop the items
in our green donation bin at the front of the shelter. If you have any questions about what

We are looking for volunteers to help at the yard sale. We need to most help for set up prior to the yard sale and clean up after the yard sale

Hot Dogs and Shelter Dogs
Thursday, July 4 at 2 PM Billsburg Brewery, 2054 Jamestown Rd., Williamsburg, VA 23185 Join us for a hot dog eating contest supporting the homeless pets at HHS! There will be raffles, prizes, delicious food, drinks and MORE! Interested in being a contestant? For $10 you can sign up to participate in the hot dog eating contest (10 contestants maximum). Baker’s Crust Benefit Night
Thursday, July 18 from 4 PM - 9 PM Baker’s Crust, 5234 Monticello Ave #115, Williamsburg, VA 23188 Go out to eat for a great cause! The local Williamsburg Baker’s Crust is hosting a benefit night for HHS! 15% of all sales (excluding alcohol) made that night will go to the homeless pets at HHS!

Dog Training Classes and Workshops Available
We are now offering group dog training classes to the public! From puppies to adult dogs, we offer a variety of classes. Our experienced, professional dog trainer Adam Claar will teach real-life skills you can use with your dog. We are offering a variety of 6-week long classes. There are also specialized one-time workshops available. Click HERE to learn more!
Rock Painting Nights
*Thursday, July 18 from 5 pm - 7 pm *Thursday, August 15 from 5 pm - 7 pm
We are excited to be hosting two Rock Painting Nights this summer. You may have seen these colorful rocks popping up all over Hampton Roads while out and about. Painted rocks that you paint and hide for someone else to find and brighten up their day! Join us at Heritage Humane Society on July 18 and/or August 15 for our first Rock Painting Nights! All supplies will be provided with instructions by an artist from Williamsburg VA ROCKS. Price is $5 for 3 rocks. All supplies are provided. Recommended ages 6 years and older. There will be light refreshments and snacks available. Email me to sign up.
Animal Camp Registration Time is running out! We only have a few slots available for our rising 1st - 3rd grader camps this summer. These camps are designed to educate and inspire young animal lovers.

Our 500th Adoption!
On June 12th we had our 500th adoption of 2019. The adoption was one of our longer resident cats Juno. If you have visited the shelter in the past few months you probably met Juno. During the day she spent a lot of her time in the front lobby area and office areas. She went to a wonderful home and we could not be happier!
URGENT NEEDS
Foster Volunteers
We are looking for foster volunteers. If you are interested in learning more about fostering please email me. Kitten season is HERE and our biggest need right now are fostering orphaned kittens, pregnant cats, and nursing cats with kittens! We have a foster application on our website. Click HERE to view it.

We have a BIG NEED for supplies for the pets in our care. Click HERE for the supply wish list. The items we are most in need of are:

VOLUNTEER SPOTLIGHT
Volunteer Highlight: Our Foster Volunteers!
We want to take a moment to thank ALL of our foster volunteers. The life-saving work you all do for us behind the scenes is truly amazing. Heritage Humane Society would not be able to care for as many animals as we do without you. Right now we have close to eighty animals
in foster care. That includes dogs, kittens, and cats. Our foster volunteers spend their time caring for pets that need extra love and support. Sometimes it’s tiny little orphaned kittens that need to be bottle fed every few hours. Sometimes it is one of our longer resident adoptable dogs that need some relief care from the shelter. And sometimes it’s a pregnant cat/dog that needs a quiet and safe home to care for their young. Our foster volunteers open up their homes and hearts to these animals and devote their time and energy to feeding, cleaning, socializing, and nurturing them. On behalf of all the staff and the animals, we wanted to thank our foster volunteers for their support, compassion, and kindness for the homeless pets.

We are so lucky to have such amazing and caring volunteers. You all help us achieve such amazing things!
