2015 Holy Land Pilgrimage

Day 1 and 2 - USA to the Holy Land Your pilgrimage begins as you depart the USA on an overnight flight.You will be welcomed to the Holy Land by our airport representativeand transferred to your hotel. Enjoy dinner before you rest.

Day 3 - Bethlehem & Mt. ZionIn Bethlehem, you’ll visit the cave revered as the place whereJesus was born (Matt. 1: 18 - 25; Luke 2: 1- 7). The church, whichwas constructed on the site, is the world’s oldest functioning church.Nearby you’ll view Shepherds’ Field where the Good News wasfirst heard. Visit the Haas Promenade and enjoy a panoramic viewfrom the south of Jerusalem, the Old City walls and the hill calledMount Moriah where Abraham was commanded by God to offerIsaac as a burnt offering (Gen. 22: 2, 4). Look out over the KidronValley and the Valley of Gehenna. Continue to Mount Zion to visitCaiaphas’ House, where Jesus was imprisoned for a night (Matt.26: 57 - 65). Stand in the Upper Room, revered as the place of theLast Supper (Mark 14: 12 - 26).

Day 4 - Jericho, Qumran & the Garden of GethsemaneTravel to Jericho to visit the ruins of the ancient city conquered byJoshua (Josh. 6: 1, 2, 20). From Jericho, you can see the traditionalsite of the Temptation of Jesus (Matt. 4: 1-11). Even today, the roadfrom Jericho to Jerusalem twists for miles as it climbs from below sealevel into the Judean mountains. Jesus traveled the nearby Romanroad, the setting of His parable of the Good Samaritan (Luke 10: 30-36). Travel to Qumran, site of the Dead Sea Scroll discovery, anddiscuss the mysterious community of Essenes who once lived on theshores of the Dead Sea. Stand atop the Mount of Olives as Jesusdid and enjoy a remarkable view of the “Golden City” of Jerusalem,including the Temple Mount and Dome of the Rock. Forty days afterhis resurrection, Jesus ascended into heaven from the Mount ofOlives (Acts 1: 9 - 12). End your day in prayer in the Garden ofGethsemane (Matt. 26: 36 - 44).

Day 5 - The Galilee Visit Nazareth, Jesus’ boyhood home (Matthew 2: 23). Travel toCapernaum, the center of Jesus’ ministry in the Galilee. Visit thesynagogue that stands on the site where Jesus taught. Recallhis teaching and preaching the gospel of the kingdom (Matt.4:13,23). Travel to the Mount of Beatitudes where Jesus gave theSermon on the Mount (Matt. 5-7). At Tabgha, the traditionallocation for the calling of the disciples and the feeding of the5,000, visit the Church of the Fish and the Loaves (Luke 9:10-17). You’ll also see the Chapel of the Primacy where three timesPeter professed his devotion to the risen Christ (John 21). At theJordan River, you can remember your baptism in the YardenitBaptismal Site.

Day 6 - The Old City of Jerusalem Today, insert your prayers in the Western Wall. View the Poolof Bethesda (John 5: 1-31) where Jesus performed theSabbath miracle, and sing a hymn in the Church of St. Anne.Visit Herod’s Antonia Fortress where Jesus was broughtbefore Pontius Pilate (Luke 23: 1-11). Walk the Via Dolorosa,“the Way of the Cross,” and stand in reverence at the Churchof the Holy Sepulchre.

Day 7 Ein Karem, Yad Vashem & the Garden TombTravel to Ein Karem, known as the birthplace of John theBaptist and the place where the Virgin Mary visited Elisabeth(Luke 1: 26-40). Visit Yad Vashem, the Holocaust Museum.End your visit in celebration at the Garden Tomb, inscribedwith the words “He is not here - for He is Risen”.

Day 8 Depart Tel Aviv and return to the USA.
