Heart of Los Angeles (HOLA) provides thousands of underserved and at-risk youth with free and exceptional after-school programming in academics, arts and athletics.

HOLA offers classes in the critical areas of language arts, math, science, and college and job preparation, as well as opportunities in a world-class orchestra, a robust visual arts program, and premiere athletic leagues. HOLA students receive individualized instruction from credentialed teachers, staff and volunteers who hold over 30 Doctorates, 44 Masters and 148 Bachelor degrees.

Ninety percent (90%) of HOLA students’ families live at or below the poverty line and are highly susceptible to drug and gang pressures. HOLA offers programming late into the evening, long after schools have closed, providing a safe haven for students, keeping them off of the streets and out of gangs.

HOLA has evolved into a model program thanks to our partnerships with the Los Angeles Department of Recreation and Parks, the Los Angeles Lakers, the Los Angeles Philharmonic, major private funders, and numerous colleges and universities nationwide that help HOLA give kids a chance to succeed.
