MASS INTENTIONS Mass Intentions are offered for the souls in purgatory, in remembrance for someone who is deceased, or someone having a special occasion. Offering a Mass for a special intention is a tradition in the Catholic Church. It is usually considered that special graces are obtained for whom the Mass is said.

When you request a Mass Intention the Parish Office will mail a Mass Card directly to the person, if living, for whose intention the Mass will be offered, or to a family member of the deceased.

If you would like to schedule a Mass Intention, please contact the Parish Office at 434-7701 to help you with the dates and times that are available.

Mass Intentions are published weekly in the bulletin and a $10 donation is requested.

SANCTUARY LIGHT

We have a few weeks available for sponsoring the Sanctuary Light. Please call the parish office at 434-7701 or email holyspirit@holyspiritfresno.org to request sponsorship in memory of a loved one. A $15 donation is requested. The names are listed in the bulletin.

Although our doors are closed temporarily to the public, your parish staff is still here for you. We have a

staff member in the office each weekday morning to answer and return phone calls, check and

respond to your emails, and to sort through the postal mail. Some of our staff are also working from home

all in a collaborative effort to ensure that we are providing the support our parishioners need.

We are working hard to try and find new ways to connect with you. As we continue to work through our

new way of communicating and sharing our Catholic faith, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us. Please

While all public Masses are still suspended throughout the diocese, Msgr. McCormick is celebrating Mass

daily, which we have made available for viewing via Live Streaming on our website or on channel 9/49 KNXT.

Weekday Mass (M-F) is at 9:00AM and Sunday Mass is at 10:00AM.

Many of you have reached out to us let to let us know that you are praying for us. Your emails, letters and

calls mean so much to us.

The parish staff miss seeing you all and our prayers are with you.

Your Giving Still Matters! For many of you, your weekly donations are brought with you to Mass. We encourage you to either mail in your weekly donations or sign up for e-Giving options. Our parish still depends on the Sunday collection. With the Mass suspension, we are missing weekly donations given by our parishioners. Currently, just as in normal, healthy times, your weekly tithe is essential for the parish in achieving our mission.

HIND’S HOSPICE Teen Grief Support Groups

Summer 2020

Mondays 4:00PM-5:00PM

Begins June 8th (10wks.)

This summer Hind’s will provide a

support group for teens, ages 13-17,

who have experienced the death of a

loved one. Teens will be be with other

teens who are grieving, any type of

death.

The goal is to provide a safe place for

teens to share their experiences and

explore their feelings. All groups are

facilitated by licensed or pre-licensed

clinicians. There is no fee to attend.

Groups will begin by meeting via Zoom

online video conferencing and if

possible, may transition to meeting in

person once Shelter in Place

regulations have lifted.

Catholic Charities has continued to operate

during this pandemic serving people in need of

help. Since the State’s “shelter in place” order

took effect on March 19th, Catholic

Charities has seen a 74% increase in food

services. Of those seeking assistance, an

estimated 40% of the people are new and have

never needed to seek out their services before.

In April, over 250,000 pounds of food was

distributed and 21,153 people served.

Because they have temporarily discontinued

taking in-kind donations, monetary

contributions have become more critical to

maintain their programs and services.

“PUSHED” OUT ON MISSION There is a delightful character in the original Dr. Dolittle Tales called the “Pushmi-Pullyu.” It is a beast with two identical halves, with a head at each end. No matter which direction the beast walks, one end is the “push me” and the other is the “pull you.” Today’s feast is a bit like that in the life of the church. In the book of the Acts of the Apostles, it is the ascension of Christ that calls for the Holy Spirit, which consequently sends or “pushes” the church out on its mission. This is the message that we hear from the angels today as they tell the friends of Jesus not to look up into the clouds, but to get busy. It is the message of Jesus himself in Matthew’s Gospel, as he sends them out to baptize. He also tells them, “I am with you always, until the end of the age” (Matthew 28:20). And it is this message, confident in faith that Jesus has ascended to shouts of joy, that “pulls” us along to our final destiny. The life of the faithful disciple, sent into the world on mission, will one day know the same risen, ascended glory.
