Home Farm is a small development of twenty seven traditionally constructed homes,

built to a high standard and specification by Blenheim Palace, with a range of different

Bladon is named after one of the Cotswolds prettiest

rivers, the Evenlode, originally called the Bledene, and

is set within picturesque countryside in the county of

Oxfordshire.

The first written evidence of Bladon was recorded

in 1086, however there is archaeological evidence

of much earlier occupation in the area. There is an

Iron Age settlement known as Round Castle located

at Bladon Heath and a Roman villa and farms in the

immediate vicinity dating between the 1st and 4th

centuries; many of the older houses in the village

date from as early as the 15th century. From small

beginnings the village thrived; with glove making

supplying royals and dignitaries visiting Blenheim, and

also quarrying for limestone. The last of the quarries

closed only in 1952, providing stone which was used in

many of the impressive buildings in nearby historical

Oxford: there are references to Bladon stone in 1378

in the building accounts of Merton College and of the

Sheldonian Theatre in 1666.

A stroll around this pretty village, with its strong local

community, will uncover charming stone cottages with

mullioned windows and local Stonesfield slate roofs;

a village pub, the very well respected Bladon Church

Of England Primary School, and delightful countryside

walks. The village is famous for being the burial place

of Sir Winston Churchill. Born at nearby Blenheim

Palace, he was laid to rest in the small cemetery at the

church of St Martin.

The nearby town of Woodstock is a walk or short drive

away. This historic market town has a bank, shops,

hotels and restaurants, cafes and public houses all

providing a vibrant atmosphere. There are Churches

of several denominations, the Oxfordshire Museum,

open air swimming pool, tennis and bowling club,

playgroup for children aged 3 to 5 and schooling

from 5 to 18. Regular bus services to Oxford and local

market towns of Chipping Norton and Witney. Rail to

Oxford and London from nearby Long Hanborough

and Oxford Parkway.
