Il Metropole Maison d’Hôtes nasce nel cuore antico di Taormina, posizionato su una vetta a strapiombo sul mare e adiacente su un lato all’antica Torre dell’Orologio e sull’altro al corso principale.

Un hotel storico in un palazzo del XVII secolo che segnò gli anni d’oro della belle époque siciliana.

Dopo oltre 40 anni di silenzio riapre le porte agli ospiti nelle ritrovate vesti di storica magnificenza dove design contemporaneo ed eleganza classica trovano il giusto equilibrio negli spazi di questo hotel 5 stelle lusso che incanta i suoi ospiti con i suoi ambienti ricercati, i sapori della buona cucina siciliana e una splendida vista sulla baia di Taormina.

Da palazzo nobiliare fu trasformato intorno al 1860 in “Locanda Bellevue” ma nei primi del 1900 l’hotel acquisì il nome Metropole e lo mantenne fino al 1970 anno in cui chiuse i battenti.

Le sapienti opere di ristrutturazione hanno saputo risaltare gli elementi architettonici originari e riportare alla luce non solo pezzi di ineguagliabile valore – come l’antico marmo della scalinata d’ingresso, gli intonaci originali e le nobiliari altezze dei soffitti ma anche l’aurea leggendaria e mitologica di cui questo luogo è carico.

La hall è un giardino d’inverno riportato agli antichi splendori di quando il Kaiser Guglielmo II vi si recava a prendere il the, com’è testimoniato dalle lettere che scriveva alla figlia.


C amere e Suite

L’hotel ospita 23 camere, tra cui 15 suite, ognuna di queste ha un suo modo di presentarsi differente nella cura dei particolari ma tutte mantengono lo stesso tema comune: il trionfo della luce in uno spazio che si fonde con la linea dell’orizzonte del mare su cui le camere affaccia.


S pa

Nella parte più antica del palazzo risalente al ‘400, l’ampia SPA si estende per l’intera superficie dell’edificio.

Hammam, piscina- idromassaggio, posarium con lettini in pietra lavica riscaldati si incastrano e si sviluppano sulle superfici materiche e la secolare pietra viva, che a tratti attraversa geometrie di rara bellezza.

Due antiche colonne di inestimabile valore, risalenti al periodo Greco-Romano ritrovate durante gli scavi, sono l’odierna cornice al bagno turco.


P iscina

Chi desidera dedicare la propria vacanza al relax e al benessere può raggiungere la piscina a sfioro con solarium, pool bar e vista incantevole sul Mar Ionio.

L’incontro tra il Metropole, il più antico hotel di Taormina che rivive dopo mezzo secolo di abbandono e Andreas Zangerl uno dei più prestigiosi cuochi europei era inevitabile…

Il menù del ristorante, stellato Michelin, Bellevue è il risultato del felice incontro tra prodotti selezionatissimi e ricette tipiche del territorio rivisitate dall’estrosa creatività del famoso cuoco Andreas Zangerl.

All’interno di una cornice di grande fascino, il ristorante del Metropole offre le più superlative selezioni culinarie accomunate da un unico denominatore: l’alta cucina, l’attenzione meticolosa alla qualità degli alimenti, la freschezza, l’innovazione.

La carta dei vini include le migliori etichette italiane e internazionali ospitate nelle cantine climatizzate dell’hotel mentre i più rari distillati possono essere gustati sia a tavola che nello splendido Metropole Lounge Bar, ormai un cult delle serate Taorminesi, che raggiunge il massimo del suo allure al tramonto, quando ogni suo angolo si riveste di magica atmosfera e, accompagnati da suggestive musiche d’ambiente, si viene trasportati in una dimensione senza tempo.

The Metropole Maison d’Hôtes born in the ancient heart of Taormina, located on a mountaintop overlooking the sea on one side and adjacent to the ancient clock tower and on to the main course.

A historic hotel in a XVII century which marked the golden years of the belle époque of Sicily.

After more than 40 years of silence reopens its doors to guests in the guise of historical splendor found modern designs and classic elegance found the right balance in the spaces of this luxury 5-star hotel enchants its guests with its setting, with the flavors of good Sicilian cuisine and a splendid view over the bay of Taormina.

From palace was transformed in 1860 in “Bellevue Inn” but in the early 1900 acquired the name the hotel Metropole and kept it until 1970 year in which closed its doors.

The wise renovations have been able to highlight the original architectural elements and bring to light not only pieces of incomparable value – as the ancient marble staircase entrance, the original plasterwork and ceiling heights of nobility but also the legendary golden mythology of which this place is full.

The lobby is a winter garden restored to its former glory when the Kaiser Wilhelm II went there to tea, as evidenced by letters he wrote to his daughter.

The hotel houses 23 rooms including 15 suites, each of these has a way to present themselves differently in the care of the details but all maintain the same common theme: the triumph of light in a space that blends with the horizon line of the rooms overlooking the sea on which.

In the oldest part of the building dating back to 400, the wide SPA covers the entire surface of the building.

Hammam, Pool-Jacuzzi, posarium with heated lava stone beds fit together and develop on the surfaces of materials and the centuries-old stone, which at times crosses geometries of rare beauty.

Two columns of priceless ancient, dating back to the Greek-Roman period found during the excavations, are the backdrop to today’s turkish bath.

Who wants to spend their holiday relaxing and well-being can reach the infinity swimming pool with solarium, pool-bar and a gorgeous view on the Ionic Sea.
