How do I add a topic sentence?
• The sentence has to make sense! • It MUST state the main idea (central
topic).
The sentence CAN NOT: • Have repeated words
• Sound awkward (weird) • Give extra information • Say things like, “I’m going to
tell you..”

feel that the essay is DONE. • The sentence has to make sense! • Sometimes it refers back to the main
idea of the whole paper.

of my paper.”
