Study Sessions Q&A• A company has changed its customer service policy from 90

percent to 95 percent. Which of the following will occur?

• I. Inventory will decrease • II. Customer satisfaction will increase • III. Warehousing costs will increase

• A) I and II • B) I and III • C) II and III • D) I, II, and III

Study Sessions Q&A

• The correct answer is: C

• An increase in customer service policies will increase the inventory level. This results from needing more inventory to ship customer orders from stock 95% of the time. This will have the positive customer satisfaction impact but the additional inventory will require more warehousing and material handling to accommodate the extra inventory.

APICS Community of Practice• A community of practice (CoP) is, according to cognitive

anthropologists Jean Lave and Etienne Wenger, a group of l h h f d/ f i hpeople who share a craft and/or a profession. The group can

evolve naturally because of the members' common interest in a particular domain or area, or it can be created specifically with the goal of gaining knowledge related to their field. It is through the process of sharing information and experiences with the group that the members learn from each other and have an opportunity to developfrom each other, and have an opportunity to develop themselves personally and professionally (Lave & Wenger 1991).
