In English, you only have one definite article, and it is “

In French, everything and everybody - people, places and things - has a gender, they are either feminine (f) or masculine
(m).
In French, we have four definite articles: one masculine, one feminine, one plural and one for singular word
who start with a vowel: • For masculine,
singular word: LE• For feminine
singular word: LA• For singular word
that starts with a vowel: L’
• For any plural word: LES
Exemple:
• Le restaurant / the restaurant
• La machine / the machine
• L’hotel / the hotel• Les tickets/ the
ticket
When you use the plural, you just add an “s” at the end of the word…
The “s” is silent.
