Dear Colleagues, I’d like to start with my thanks to everyone for maintaining effective social distancing, in line with our continued delivery of an essential service. Observing these measures can be a big change, and in some cases, may come with feelings of isolation. Please know that, even with our important new ways of working, you are always supported. If in need, please reach out to your leader or contact our EAP service on 1800 808 374 (Phone) or 0439 449 876 (SMS). As we begin Rail R U OK? Month, please remember it’s up to all of us to start a conversation if you see someone struggling. Today, I’m going to cover some important new detail around gatherings in our workplaces, an update on cash- handling, and how we’re supporting employees in vulnerable groups. For the latest news about Victoria’s response to COVID-19, please refer to coronavirus.vic.gov.au. Understanding how new rules on gatherings apply to our workplaces You will have heard that gatherings in Australia are now restricted to no more than 2 people – with exceptions for members of your household, as well as for essential work and education. At Metro, we continue to deliver an essential service to keep Melbourne moving. This means the restrictions of no more than 2 people gathering does not apply in our workplaces. We are absolutely committed to the safety and wellbeing of our people, and will continue to ensure social distancing rules are maintained in ways that are safe and appropriate to the work of individual business areas. Across Passenger Delivery, we are seeing fantastic examples of teams embracing these measures. In Infrastructure, for instance, we are re-deploying relevant vehicles for use by team members travelling to site, and we continue to see Stations and Authorised Officers teams supporting our passengers in ways that protect all parties. For today’s Department of Transport announcement around cash-handling, please refer to the attached email from Tilly, GM Passenger Experience. Metro employees in vulnerable groups urged to speak with their leader In line with Government advice, Metro is urging colleagues who are aged over 70, over 60 with a chronic illness, and/or Indigenous Australians over the age of 50, to please come forward and speak with your leader. I want to be absolutely clear that no employee will be stood down by Metro, or forced to stay home, for being part of one of these vulnerable groups. We will be supporting each employee, with a focus on their individual circumstances. If you are unsure if a medical condition falls under any of these categories, please contact your doctor for guidance. If you are an employee in one of these categories, or a manager with a team member in one of these categories, please note that your People Business Partner is on hand to help you through this as needed. Supporting all employees with a range of additional measures Metro continues to respond to the evolving COVID-19 situation with a range of measures and support for employees, including: New cleaning measures and provision of hand sanitiser, wipes and personal protection equipment for employees and workplaces in line with official advice. Thank you for using these materials appropriately,

Hi Team, The Victorian Government has advised Metro that all public transport staff will no longer be required to handle cash payments and that manual ticket checking activities should also cease. This is to slow the spread of COVID-19. This means there will be changes to the way you work:

The handling of cash and passenger tickets/myki cards by our teams is to cease immediately

Passengers should be encouraged to access alternative myki top-up options.

Passengers will still be required to travel with a valid ticket. This means passengers should utilise myki vending machines, Quick Top Up Enquiry Machines, or go online - via the PTV website and through registering myki online and utilising auto top-up. This Victorian Government direction also means Authorised Officers should continue to provide a visible presence on the network, focusing strongly on customer service and the provision of information to passengers but are not required to check tickets. This important decision further provides for operating in line with social distancing requirements. I urge the team to continue to consider their safety first in all interactions on the network. Posters We are producing posters as quickly as we can to inform passengers at stations, they’ll be with you soon, but we wanted you to have the update as soon as possible whilst we work with Department of Transport on consistent materials (that all Operators will use) to send out to you. Livestream – talk to us I would encourage you to join Zero Harm Executive Director Rob Duvel in a livestream tomorrow, if it is possible. If you can’t watch the stream, please make an effort to tune in later – we will share the link once the Livestream concludes. Dear all,

Over the last 24 hours the toughest restrictions to date as part of Victoria’s response to COVID-19 came into effect.

Under Stage 3 measures, all public gatherings have been limited to no more than two people. There are exceptions to this restriction, and the workplace is one of these. There is also specific health advice for vulnerable groups, and Victorians are being warned that they mustn’t leave their homes unless it’s for essential activities.

Our way of life continues to change – so it’s more important than ever for everyone to keep across the latest developments, and how they may affect you.

I will be conducting another Livestream event on Friday 3 April 2020 from 11.30am – 12.00pm to provide an update on the COVID-19 pandemic, discuss Metro’s response, and answer some of your questions.
