Problem Description

The Intelligence Portal doesnot highlight information whenthe Starts With operator isused

If a column filter or a search condition uses the Starts Withoperator, i2 Analyze does not supply highlighting information.

Potential latency when youattach documents

There might be a delay between creating items with documentsattached and being able to download the documents. When yourun in a group Analysis Repository environment, if you make adocument download request before the document is available,an error is displayed.

Double-byte characters cannotbe used to input date and timevalues

i2 Analyze cannot accept double-byte characters as input intodate properties and time properties. More specifically, youcannot use the wider representations of western numbers thatdouble-byte character sets include.

The Intelligence Portal doesnot support non-Gregoriancalendars

In locales with non-Gregorian default calendars, a Gregoriancalendar is used instead for entry and display of dates.

Item label appears to beupdated after edits arecanceled

If you change an item that if saved would cause the item labelto change, and then click Cancel to discard your changes, theitem label changes to include the canceled edits. The data isnot saved and the label change is not persisted. If you close thetab and then reopen the item, the original label is displayed.

Search types vary in non-English-language regions

There are some limitations with exact and fuzzy matching innon-English-language regions:

• Western European script (Brazilian, French, German, Italian,Spanish) and Cyrillic scripts (Russian):

Exact matching produces successful results. Matches that arebased on synonyms or similar spellings might return lessuseful results. Evaluate the results for similar spelling andsynonym matching behaviors, and if necessary, you canmodify the search configuration for a language duringdeployment.

• Semitic and East Asian scripts (Arabic, Hebrew, Japanese,Korean, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese):

Exact matching produces mixed results. The indexing processis heavily reliant on word boundaries (for example, a space). As these scripts do not reflect the same word boundaries aswestern scripts, exact matching can provide weak or noresults for text fragments. However, exact matching works inwhole character sequences, such as the equivalent to Englishsentences. Matches based on synonyms can return lessuseful results than in English. Matches based on similarspellings are unlikely to return useful results. You can modifythe search configuration for a language during deployment.

Chart names are ignored whencharts are created in theAnalysis Repository

If you create a chart in the Analysis Repository, then save it andopen it in Analyst's Notebook, the chart opens but the chartname is ignored. The default chart name is used. When anychanges are made to that chart, the chart is treated as astandard Analyst's Notebook chart and the changes are notautomatically saved back into the Analysis Repository. Whenyou close and reopen Analyst's Notebook, a message might bedisplayed indicating that a temporary chart cannot be found. Toavoid this problem, create your chart in Analyst's Notebook andupload it to the Analysis Repository. When you next Save thechart, any changes you made to it are automatically saved backinto the Analysis Repository.

New custom icons that have ashading color set are not savedin the chart

When you create a new custom icon and set a shading color, itis not saved as part of the chart. If you remove the image filefrom the custom icons folder or open the chart on a differentcomputer, the icon is displayed as a circle.

Analyst's Notebook Premiumcan operate incorrectlybecause of client securitysettings

Client security settings might prevent the correct operation ofAnalyst's Notebook Premium. Analyst's Notebook Premiummight request confirmation that the connections are safe.

Items that contain a very largeamount of data can affectperformance

If the Analysis Repository contains items that have many cards,or many properties on each card:

• Performance might be affected.• Information can be harder to find.

For data that produces more than a hundred properties on asingle card, or hundreds of cards on a single item, considerchanging the structure of the data.

Help window does not alwaysappear when opened from theData Sources task pane

When the Data Sources task pane is docked, and you click theHelp button, the Help window might disappear and reappearwhen you click it. To close the Help window, undock the DataSources task pane first. After you close the Help window, youcannot invoke it again from the Data Sources task pane whenthe task pane is undocked. To avoid these problems, open theHelp from the Data Sources area of the Home tab of the ribbon. The Help window opens with the "Working with Analyst'sNotebook Premium" topic open.

Information Store

Table 5: Information Store

Problem Description

If you use Arabic or Hebrewcharacters, the names oftables and columns do notmatch the display names inthe schema.

It can be difficult to understand the relationship between thetable and column names and the display names in the schemafile.

To deploy the Information Store with Arabic or Hebrew displaynames, first deploy the Information Store with characters fromthe Latin alphabet for display names. After this initialdeployment is successful, you can change the display names inthe schema to use Arabic or Hebrew characters and redeploythe Information Store. Follow this same process when you addentity or property types to a deployed schema, or if you re-create the Information Store database.

Some non-English charactersare replaced in theInformation Store table andcolumn names.

This replacement of characters can change the names that youexpect to see, when you are completing operations such asingesting data. For example, the German language esszettcharacter (written 'ß') is replaced by an underscore inInformation Store table and column names.

This problem can be solved by a procedure similar to theresolution described for the previous problem.

Table 5: Information Store (continued)

Problem Description

Globalized schemas can causean Information Storedeployment to fail.

If the first 21 valid characters of your display name containmultibyte characters, the derived Information Store table andcolumn names might be too long. If the names are too long, thedeployment of i2 Analyze fails.

The Information Store supports table and column names oflength 30 bytes. The names are derived from the first 21 validcharacters of the display name of item or property types in theschema. A valid character is an alphabetic character that has alowercase representation, or a numeric character. The first validcharacter must be alphabetic.

To deploy successfully, ensure that the first 21 valid charactersof any display name are less than or equal to 21 bytes.

Origin identifiers changedbetween versions

In i2 Analyze version 4.1.2, backslash (\) characters areremoved from origin identifiers when they are created. In laterversions, backslash characters are not removed when originidentifiers are created.

If the information that is used to create your origin identifierscontains backslashes, records that you ingest are identified asnew records rather than updates to existing records. To updateexisting data, you must clear any data from your system andreingest the data.

Geospatial data types are notsupported in the InformationStore Opal pattern

Geospatial data types are supported in the Analysis Repositoryand for the Information store Onyx pattern, but are notsupported in the Information Store Opal pattern.

Information Store does notsupport Read Cloaked

The security classification Read Cloaked is not supported inthe Information Store.

i2 Analyze Opal services

Table 6: i2 Analyze - Opal services

Problem Description

Messages when Solr Starts orstops

If you are using third-party tools that contain a findexecutable, you might see messages that indicate files cannotbe found:

find: unable to access "TCP ":The system cannot find the file specified.find: unable to access ":0 ":The system cannot find the file specified.find: unable to access ":8983 ":The system cannot find the file specified.

These messages might indicate that the system variable thatdefines the environment path has the path to the third-partytool before the system files. Verify that the Path= systemvariable contains paths that point to the third-party commandline tools added after the paths that point to the system folders.

Searches can stop runningafter i2 Analyze is restarted

If the WebSphere Liberty Application Server is restarted whilesearches are running, the search might time out. To prevent thisissue, ensure that the HTTP server is restarted when you restartthe Application Server.

i2 Analyze Onyx services

Table 7: i2 Analyze - Onyx services

Problem Description

Unable to create databasetables at deployment

When you run deploy or deployExample, if your DB2database is not configured correctly you might see the followingmessage:

Database ds/WriteStore-write1 is at version CleanInstall. Upgrading to latest version 4.1.

If you see this message, ensure that the database is correctlyconfigured in topology.xml, that the database is running, andcan be accessed by using the details that you supplied.

iBase connector does notsupport i2 Analyze schemasthat contain duplicate typenames

If your deployment of iBase connector is based on an existingdeployment of i2 Analyze, then the i2 Analyze schema must notdefine entity and link types that have matching names. If thissituation arises, the toolkit appears to generate the iBaseschema correctly, but iBase is unable to create a database fromit.

To resolve this issue, rename the entity type or the link type inthe i2 schema.

Table 7: i2 Analyze - Onyx services (continued)

Problem Description

In iBase connector, some datatypes in the schema areincorrectly transformed

In the i2 Analyze schema that is created from an iBase schema, any Multi-Line Text (Append Only) fields areincorrectly transformed to single-line data types. If required, after the schema is created, you can manually change the fieldtypes to Multi-Line Text.

Multiple iBase connectors arenot supported

i2 Analyze supports a single iBase connector that connects to asingle iBase database. However, other data access on-demandconnectors can still be installed, and Connector Creatorsupports connections to multiple databases.

The downloaded ConnectorCreator configuration file canbe invalid

In some circumstances, a Connector Creator configuration filethat you download can be different from the file that wasoriginally uploaded to the server.

• If a <resource> element in the original configuration file didnot have any child <queries> elements, the downloadedversion contains an invalid <queries/> element.

• If a <parameter> element within a query in theconfiguration file did not have any child <select> elements, the downloaded version contains an invalid <select/>element.

Before you reupload a previously downloaded ConnectorCreator configuration file, search for and remove any instancesof <queries/> and <select/> elements.
