Payday Lending

“A $325 loan should not lead to a family’s economic ruin – but for millions

of people in the United States, a small short-term loan is the hook into a

cycle of debt and despair. Monies spent on interest cannot be used for other

needs, like food, shelter, clothing and utilities. The endless cycle of

borrowing pulls families and communities into its vortex.” “All people have

dignity, and should have access to the resources they need to meet their

needs, including access to fair credit. As the bishops have urged, “We must

insure fair and equal access to available credit. We urge banks and savings

and loan associations to meet their responsibilities...” “There is much work to be done to build a society where families can thrive

and communities flourish. Prayer and sensitivity to our neighbor is essential

and learning about the extent of credit abuse and the lack of honest banking

options for many can be eye opening. Don’t be afraid to get involved!”

social-justice/social-justice-commission)

The Diocesan Social Justice Commission requests prayers for all unborn

babies in danger of abortion. A sample prayer entitled Spiritual Adoption

Prayer is as follows: “Jesus, Mary and Joseph, with love for you I ask your

intercession to protect the life of unborn children. May they all come to birth

healthy and be a source of joy to their parents. For those in danger because

of abortion, I adopt them as my own and pray for them and their mothers.”

If you are interested in attending, just

show up at the class or call 842-3520 for

more information.

Prayer shawls are traditional forms of praying for others in a tangible, physical way. It's one thing to say "I'm praying for you," but another to hand someone a physical object that

constitutes an entire process of prayer! Usually, prayer shawls are given to people who are in a time of suffering and need. They can go to people you know, or you can donate them to total strangers.

For more information please see the display in the vestibule of the Immaculate Conception Church.

WINE & CHEESE NIGHT

Sat., Oct. 10th following Mass A time to socialize with Fr. Andrzej &

other adult church members. We would

like to build a strong faith community outside the church.

You are invited to Father’s home the second Saturday

of each month after Mass from 7:00-9:00pm.

If anyone is interested in joining the email

prayer chain, call Patty DeMers @ 842-3667

with your email address. Or email her at

[email protected] with your information.

Patty will be the new contact person to start the chain. If you

want to have prayers requested, in order to respect the dignity

and privacy of individuals, we will need the request of an

immediate family member or the person himself/herself.

Come, join our study group.

Sun., Oct. 11th @ 7:00 pm in the St. Isidore Church basement
