THE NEW FORK LIFT IS HERE! For those of you that haven’t seen this beauty, you should swing by and we will give you a tour. She is a Hoist Neptune Series M350. The improvements of marine forklifts over the past 18 years have been very exciting for our lift operators! The new Hoist will allow us to pick up the larger boats for service and haul outs.

We want to start off by thanking all of our loyal customers for an amazing year here at Beach Marine! With transient season underway, we couldn’t be more excited about all the amazing visitors we have stopping by our marina! Enjoy one of our many amenities, and the simplicity of our location as it is central to most of Jacksonville’s many amazing attractions. December is a great time of year to explore our waterways with friends and family, so we hope our lower fuel prices will help make it a little easier on your pocket this holiday season! From our family to yours, Happy Holidays and Happy New Year’s! We look forward to an even more amazing 2015 with all of you! Make sure you make it down for our Annual Beach Marine Christmas Party at Nippers Beach Grille Monday, December 8th and help us celebrate 20 Years!

You and I may not have had the chance to meet yet, but most like we’ve already spoken on the phone. I’ve been at Beach Marine since July and would like to take a moment to introduce myself. I’m a native to Jax Beach, graduated from Fletcher High, and moved back to start a family after graduating from the University of North Carolina. I’m working under Lisa, keeping your accounts up to date and navigating the steady stream of both novice & experienced boat owners that are flowing in to Beach Marine. I’m happy to say that I’m catching on

quickly and learning much of the nautical terms that apply to the marina industry. I really enjoy working with the Taylor family and look forward to meeting everyone!Happy Holidays! - Melissa Mobley

As the Prop Turns... Check Your Propeller! If you have an outboard or stern drive boat, you should check the propeller as part of your regular maintenance routine. With the proper tools, remove the propeller(s) several times during the season to make sure items such as discarded fishing line hasn’t become wrapped around the propeller shaft. If it has, have our Service Deptartment inspect the gear case, because fishing line can cause gear case leaks and that is not a do-it-yourself job. While you have the propeller off, inspect it for nicks, dents and other signs of damage. It’s alright if your prop is missing paint, but send it out for repairs if you find signs of impact. The smallest dent can cause your boat to lose performance and burn excessive fuel. A damaged prop also can vibrate, putting too much stress on bearings and seals causing additional damage! Finally, put a liberal amount of waterproof grease on the propeller shaft to prevent corrosion from “freezing” it in place. Once completed, re-install the propeller and hardware in the same order that you took them off. Tighten the nut(s) snugly and secure the locking tabs against the nut(s) so it can’t back off the shaft threads. Our Service Department can have your prop(s) checked and/or reconditioned to make sure your boat performs properly. This month, we are offering a 10% labor discount on prop reconditioning!

Marcus' Know HowReasons to Use Non- Ethanol Fuel from Marinas1. A gallon of gasoline provides one-third more energy than a gallon of ethanol.2. Blending ethanol and gasoline at a ratio of 85 percent to 15 percent (E85), the blended fuel is nearly thirty percent less powerful than pure gasoline. Ethanol is similar in acceleration, power, and cruising ability, but ethanol miles per gallon are less than pure gasoline.3. Ethanol causes damage to fuel systems and engines that pure gasoline does not. The most critical problems are water contamination and fuel separation. Ethanol attracts and absorbs water, including water from the air. When the gasohol absorbs enough water, fuel water contamination occurs in the boats gas tank and that affects engine performance. If the boat sits for a while, fuel separation occurs; this is where the gas and water form layers in the gas tank and if the motor sucks up the water layer into the engine, serious costly, damage happens.
