In Loving Memory of Jess
Jesus Pagilagan AlauraDecember 25, 1950 - October 3, 2018
Jess was born in the Philippines on December 25, 1950. He peacefully passed away with his wife Judy by his side, on the morning of October 3, 2018. He was 67 years old.
At the age of 17, after graduating from Don Bosco, he migrated with his family to the United States. Soon after his arrival he joined the U.S. Navy and became a crew member of a hospital ship. On that ship he
discovered and developed his passion for dentistry. Once back on land, he became a well-rounded and highly skilled dental technician who went on to open his own laboratory. He was awarded as one of the youngest entrepreneurs in the Bay Area and kept his lab doors open for nearly 3 decades.
His keen eye for detail and value made him a regular at flea markets, garage sales and consignment shops. Finding that “diamond in the rough” brought him great joy every time! In addition to finding the best deals when buying items he was your ‘go to’ guy for finding the best deals to offload any of your unwanted items. He enjoyed designing, making, cleaning and repairing jewelry on a regular basis.
Jess was very fashionable with a timeless style. Take a glimpse into his closet, and you will find a vast collection of black clothing for every occasion. His clothing was always accompanied with just the right accessories of belts with detailed buckles, hats, watches and of course finished off with perfect pair of cowboy boots.
He was also an avid fan of reality shows such as American Pickers, Storage Wars, Pawn Stars, Counting Cars, Wheeler Dealer to name a few. He could watch these shows all day long.
A music lover and an experienced karaoke singer, Jess frequented Karaoke clubs and hotel lounges. He had a great singing voice and a diverse collection of songs he loved to listen to and sing.
He always shared a piece of himself with everyone, be it a garment, jewelry, advice, stories, or time. He always went out of his way for the ones he loved. Essentially, a very kind, friendly and all around great guy. Mr. Congeniality!
He is survived by his only son, Jason; wife Judy, his older sibling Dan and younger siblings Roger and Leah.
