s unbelievable as it may sound, the year is quickly coming to a close. As we look to 2019 with purpose and excitement, we wanted to look back at the incredible year Supima has had and some of the key highlights of 2018:

Supima’s Historical Brand Book PublishedSupima started the year with the publication of an incredible

coffee table book. SUPIMA: World’s Finest Cottons chronicles the history of Supima and the influence it has had throughout the fashion and home industries. Published by famed publisher, Rizzoli Books, to rave reviews, SUPIMA: World’s Finest Cottons was also recognized for its excellence with two awards.

Leading The Way in Transparency One of Supima’s more important announcements in 2018 was our agreement with Oritain.

Oritain is a global leader in using forensic science to identify and verify the place of origin for food, fiber and pharmaceuticals. Supima’s partnership with Oritain is already underway and

will enable us to test fabrics throughout the supply chain and products at the retail selling floor, tracing Supima cotton back to the point of origin. Supima together with leading Italian textile company, Albini and Oritain recently announced the first 100% traceable Supima cotton platform for luxury fashion group Kering. Kering’s brand portfolio includes Gucci, Saint Laurent, Bottega Veneta, Alexander McQueen and Brioni to name a few.

A Growing Family of LicenseesThe Supima licensing program approaching almost 40 years in the

making, saw a sharp rise in brands, retailers and suppliers looking to become official licensees of Supima cotton. Supima currently has a record number of over 517 partners from around the world. The tremendous growth in our licensing program is a testament to our family farmer’s commitment to our premium American-grown ELS cotton and the many branding initiatives underway.

In The NewsFrom industry trade magazines including WWD, Sourcing Journal

and California Apparel News to consumer publications ranging from In Style to the Wall Street Journal, Supima cotton has been creating buzz throughout the media world. Both traditional news outlets and online influencers have been paying close attention to Supima cotton and our brand partners this year.

Products crafted with Supima have been included in many influential buying guides and some have received top reviews from publications like Real Simple and Good Housekeeping. Social media influencers have visited our family farms and have shared their experiences with their followers, increasing Supima’s footprint in the digital world. The international media has quickly caught on as well, featuring Supima and our efforts to support up and coming designers through the international fashion community.

Our Branding EffortsIt might seem easy when you have the best cotton in the world,

but Supima works diligently to ensure that the Supima brand is top of mind throughout the fashion and home textile industry as well as with consumers. Once again Supima par tnered wi th The New York Times Style Magazine to implement i ts annual branding campaign. This year’s theme was “Grown in America”/ Made by… featuring Aether, Everlane, Stone Island and Onsen towels, all leading brands within their market segment. Supima also continues to explore and implement various retail promotions throughout the country including our annual spring promotion partnership with our longstanding partner Brooks Brothers.

The Supima Design Competition and Supima Design Lab

2018 marked the 11th annual showing of the Supima Design Competition and the four th consecutive year of SDC’s Paris

installment. We seem to say this every year, but this year was, by far, one of the most exc i t ing showings yet. The ca l iber of talented finalists from our school partners continues to amaze everyone including

our judges, who are comprised of industry leaders and editors. The SDC is an incredible opportunity to create brand recognition throughout the world, but more importantly it puts the Supima brand at the center of a program that gives recent design school graduates the opportunity to showcase their talents to the global fashion community. Supima is also proud to extend this program to the international stage with this year’s creation of the Supima Design Lab which included participation by five leading International Designers and the Festival de Hyeres. Supima is committed to fostering the next generation of fashion designers from around the world.

On The FarmOne of the hottest tickets this year is the annual October Supima

harvest. Each year the requests from our partners to visit our family farms increases and 2018 was no exception. Brands from around the world want to visit our farms and learn why Supima accounts for the top 1% of the world’s cotton. Companies including Michael Kors, Marine Layer, Everlane, Banana Republic, Onsen, S l o a n e & Ta t e , Lands’ End and Brooks Brothers all brought teams to experience the harvest firsthand.

The Harvest2018 saw one of the highest lbs. per acre yield for Supima cotton.

From technological advancements, the skill of individual famers and overall collective efforts from leaders in farming – not to mention a little help from Mother Nature - Supima saw a record crop this year!

We would like to thank our grower families and our partners across the supply chain for their work and support in making the Supima brand relevant throughout the world. We wish you all a happy and healthy holiday season and look forward to working with you in the coming year.
