INDIANAPOLIS INDIANS GAME NOTES
TODAY’S TRIBE STARTER: RHP Rick VandenHurk toes the rubber for Indianapolis ... VandenHurk has made 10 appearances with the Indians and is 8-0 with a 2.69 ERA ... In eight starts for the Tribe, VandenHurk has gone 7-0 and posted a 3.52 ERA ... VandenHurk also made one start for the Class-A Bradenton Marauders and overall in 2012 is 9-0 with a 3.29 ERA ... In his most recent start, 7/3 at Louisville, VandenHurk picked up the win on 6.0 innings, nine hits, two earned runs, zero walks and five strikeouts ... VandenHurk has never faced Columbus ... The Eindhoven, Netherlands, native has, however, made 46 major league appearances (35 starts) for the Florida Marlins and Balti-more Orioles, posting an 8-10 record and 5.97 career ERA
TODAY’S CLIPPERS STARTER: LHP David Huff takes the mound in his 13th appearance (12th start) for Co-lumbus ... With the Clippers, Huff is 3-4 with a 4.66 ERA ... Huff also made one Eastern League start for Akron and tossed 4.0 innings with one hits, zero runs, one walk and three strikeouts ... Overall in 2012, Huff is 3-4 with a 4.39 ERA ... Huff has lost three straight decisions across his last seven starts ... In his most recent start, 7/2 at Toledo, Huff took the loss on 6.0 innings pitched, nine hits, four earned runs and two walks while striking out three Mud Hens ... Huff last faced Indianapolis in three starts in 2011 ... Most recently, on 7/14/2011 at Huntington Park, Huff took the loss, lasting just 3.0 innings while allowing six hits (one home run), three earned runs and one walk and recording three strikeouts ... Like VandenHurk, Huff has major league experience and has appeared in 49 games for the Cleve-land Indians, making 48 starts, posting a 15-25 career record and 5.50 ERA
HEAVY HITTERS: While breaking a brief two-game losing streak on Saturday night, the Indianapolis Indians pounded out 18 hits, one short of their season-high of 19 set on 6/3 against Syracuse ... Every Indianapolis batter recorded at least on hit and three put together three-hit efforts ... Interestingly, only two of the Tribe’s 18 hits went for extra-bases, a double by SS Chase d’Arnaud and a double by C Tony Sanchez
THREE-HIT TRIO: While all nine members of the Indianapolis batting order hit safely and six recorded a multi-hit game, three batters managed to pound out three hits each
CLOBBERIN’ CLEMENT: 1B Jeff Clement went 3-for-6 with an RBI and a run scored on Saturday night ... It was Clement’s second three-hit effort in his last four games and his fourth multi-hit game in his last 10 ...
