Ideas for Implementation• Hold a parent meeting to go over the requirements of the plan; ask parents & students

to sign and turn in at the end of the meeting.• Schedule 15-minute appointments with parents and students to develop the plan

before, during or after the school day (perhaps during student-led or parent-teacher conferences or on a school day (or evening) during a designated week).

• Send initial graduation plans home with students to complete with parents to be returned to school. Copies should be made so that the school keeps one copy to be included in the permanent record.

• Send a notice home with report cards or use an outbound phone call to all 6th grade (or high school) parents alerting them of this requirement. If folders are not returned by a designated date, an outbound call could be made to those parents as well as a reminder to students.

• Update the plan each year during parent/teacher conferences.• Designate a specific week for parents and students to discuss and complete the plans

(perhaps College Go! Week in the fall).• During scheduling of classes for the following year; particularly important in grade 8 &

9 when doing 4 year course plans.
