LESSONS – 13 WEEKS September - December
Lessons are individually taught in Presser Hall (music building) on allorchestral and band instruments, guitar, piano, and voice.
The age requirement for voice lessons is 15 and older.
Tuition: Stetson student music major: $195 per semester
Community professional: $260 per semester (degreed musician)
Tuition Covers: 13 half-hour lessons during the fall semester. Lessons scheduled after registration is received. Please allow at least two to three weeks after you register for the teacher to be assigned and to contact you to schedule lesson times.
Location: All lessons are held in Presser Hall (music building)

Young SingersAmanda Sali, conductor
The Young Singers is a treble choir composed of elementary, middleschool, and high school voices. Our mission is to provide a quality musiceducation experience focusing on healthy vocal production, musicreading skills and musical artistry through performance.

Orff-SchulwerkKris Light, Level III Certified Orff Instructor
This internationally recognized approach, developed by the German composerand educator Carl Orff, combines movement, singing, and the playing ofinstruments, such as xylophones and glockenspiels. Carl Orff believed thatmusic can and should be an immediate and active experience. The rhythmicOrff approach emphasizes the value of group performance and is filled withclapping, moving, and keeping a beat with anything near at hand. All the funthings children ages 3 to 9 love to do!
ORFF-SCHULWERK CLASS (11 classes) Begins Wednesday, September 3
Times: Wednesdays 4:15 - 5:00 pm (ages 3-4)5:15 - 6:00 pm (ages 5-9)

Kris earned her Level III Orff-Schulwerk certification in1998, and is a member of the American Orff-SchulwerkAssociation. She holds a Bachelor in Music Educationdegree from the University of Central Florida. Kris haswritten curriculum standards for Volusia County Schools.
She is a member of the Florida Music Educators Association.Kris has been a guest conductor for the All-County Music Festival and was
recognized as one of the top five finalists for the 2013 Volusia County Teacher ofthe Year. Kris views her opportunity as a teacher "to see each child as anindividual" and to empower children "based upon their own unique abilities tobecome effective contributors to society." Teaching, she adds, "has enriched mylife forever."

Stephanie Sandritter
Stephanie Sandritter is an orchestra director and musiceducator for a public school in the Orlando area. Agraduate of Florida State University, with a Bachelor'sdegree in Music Education, she studied cello withProfessor Gregory Sauer and conducting with Dr. PatrickDunnigan. Stephanie has been a member of All-Countyand All-State orchestras and appeared with the FloridaYouth Symphony. She has played with the Brevard
Symphony Orchestra, the Mary Queen of the Universe Basilica Choir Orchestraand the university orchestras at Florida State University. Stephanie has alsoplayed in musicals and was the assistant music director for a production ofJoseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.
Sandra Hill
Sandra Hill first became involved with the YouthString Orchestra as a Stetson music major. Shegraduated from Stetson with a Bachelor‘s degree inMusic Education. Since graduation, Sandra has beenteaching in the Volusia County school system. Shebegan an after school violin program at a local schooland has recently started a cello choir. Sandra beganplaying cello during her elementary school years andhas been learning, teaching and playing ever since.

Youth String OrchestraStephanie Sandritter and Sandra Hill, conductors
The Youth String Orchestra is open to all school age string students,beginning to advanced. This ensemble provides an opportunity for stringplayers, at any level, to improve their playing skill in a high energy, positiveenvironment. Students will focus on their musicianship through thepractice and performance of high quality accessible repertoire whichincludes a variety of styles from classical to pop. The students will performon the stage of historic Elizabeth Hall in a concert at the conclusion of thefall semester. Violin, viola, cello and bass players welcome. The YouthString experience will foster a love of music for string instruments andprovide a great time of learning how to play in an ensemble.

Community School of Music Frequently Asked Questions
What resource materials will I need?
Instrumental purchase/rental and the purchase of sheet music and methodbooks are the responsibility of the student. These costs are not reflected intuition fees. Questions about materials should be directed to the individualteacher.
What if I miss a lesson?
Students pay for all lessons regardless of whether or not they were present forthem. Make-up lessons are offered at the discretion of the teacher, but they arenot required to do so. No special time is reserved for make-up lessons. Missedlessons due to teacher absences will be made up by arrangement between thestudent and the teacher. Be certain to get your teacher's contact information. If you need to cancel a lesson please contact your teacher directly via text,email, or phone.
When do lessons begin and end?
There are 13 lessons offered in the fall and the spring semesters. After you haveregistered your teacher will contact you to arrange specific days and times foryour lessons. Teachers need time at the beginning of each semester to arrangetheir classes, rehearsals, and work periods, so it may be two or three weeks afteryou have registered before your teacher contacts you. The lessons end when all13 have been taken. The beginning and ending dates of the lessons can beflexible as long as all lessons paid for have been given and taken.
How long is the semester?
The Community School of Music follows the Stetson University semestercalendar. Most semesters are 13 weeks long. Student teachers may not teachduring exams or break periods.
Do students perform in recitals?
Each teacher decides whether a recital will be held at the end of the semester.There are Young Singer and Youth String concerts at the conclusion of each semester.
