In the Book of Genesis, God said “let there be light” and there was light. That is when light flooded the world and let catch a glimpse of Eden’s garden.

De Grisogono’s story is the same. Its designer M. Fawaz Gruosi, is an artist who uses light as an eternal ally, in order for our

eyes to be amazed by his jewellery Eden garden. For 20 years, De Grisogono’s creations have used colours, contrasts and shapes; and for 20 years Fawaz Gruosi has innovated,

dared, got inspired, reinterpreted and created as a visionary would have.A prestigious jewellery house is recognizable with regard to its creations uniqueness, to the selection of its stones and material, to its technical nature, and last but not least, to the women who choose to wear its wonders. The jeweller’s singularity comes from his inspirations and quest to magnify colours. As far as stones are concerned, Fawaz Gruosi started his creations with black diamonds, a gem that found grace in his eyes and for which no other designer showed interest in.

First, Fawaz Gruosi’s designs where dressed up by pearls and black diamonds, he used Shagreen, Icy diamonds and a “brushed” gold that he named Bobby Brown Gold.

Page 21: INFLUENTE PARIS - July/August 13 -

21

Soon enough, elite became passionate about this High Jewellery UFO. The designer does not settle for creating a new jewellery style, he decides to ward it off to a high level of technical nature, as far as his distinctive stone setting, arabesques and engraved volutes are concerned.

Fawaz Gruosi’s best reward is to see his passion and mentality dress up the most beautiful women: Sophia Loren, Naomi Campbell, Charlize Theron, Isabelle Adjani, Eva Longoria, Aishwarya Rai, Milla Jovovich, Karolina Kurkova, Heidi Klum, Kristin Scott Thomas, Salma Hayek, Sharon Stone and Jennifer Lopez to name a few.

Twenty extraordinary items where put on display at the Basel World 2013, it was a new coming of age. The Melody of colour launched in 2012 includes about thirty references that bring out the designer’s boldness. Once more, he knew how to mix cameos, diamonds, colours and shapes in the service of Luxury and glamour. His wonderful creations will be admired by everyone during the Festival de Cannes.

High jewellery holds a poet who uses gems instead of verses.

DE GRISOGONO ALSO REPRESENTS A GREAT LOVE STORY WITH RED CARPETS AND WITH THE MOST « INFLUENTE » WOMEN.

IP: WHAT IS THE LINK BETWEEN DUBAI AND PARIS?

LM : I was born and raised in Paris and I have lived in Dubai for the last 10 years. I was fortunate to arrive in Dubai at a key time when I could witness the merge and growth of Dubai. It has been an unbelievable and amazing experience since then, I consequently decided to bridge up Dubai and Paris with what I love the most: Fashion. Since I often travel to Paris, I got inspired by the new designers, boutiques and street life. These where the things I was missing in Dubai and why I decided to introduce aspects of my favorite Parisian style to the Dubai market.Paris is the soul and the “savoir-faire” whilst Dubai has the potential and vision. Both cities are an essential fashion platform; it seems obvious they should complement each other.

IP: HOW DO PARIS AND DUBAI SHOPPING HABITS DIFFER?

LM: I’ve been traveling a lot, discovering amazing countries and fashion destinations but I must say

that Paris is “invincible”! It is a major source of inspiration where you can find all sorts of fashion influences all the while being the center of “couture”. It has a “je ne sais quoi...” that you can’t find anywhere else.

As for Dubai, it has this energetic and powerful cosmopolitan fashion

influence that I love. You can find amazing fabrics and tailor-

make your own clothes. Moreover it offers you the

world in their incredible shopping malls, which is also a unique concept specific to Dubai.

WHAT DOES CC CREAM STAND FOR ?Technically, it stands for « Color Control » cream but that doesn’t mean it’s a spot cream. It’s more of a multi-fonction cream that has coverage and skincare properties. The Korean girls love it because it promises a natural-looking skin coverage.

HOW TO CHOOSE THE SUITABLE CC CREAM FOR MY SKIN ?It is very important to find the right one for your skin type as it is a skincare treatment. Is your skin oily ? dry ? with problems ?Do you have ageing concerns or do you just want a healthy glow ? Do you wish to hide your spots or do you just want to use it as a

good make-up base ?Once you’ve answered these questions, careful to like the smell of the CC creams as they often are perfumed ; it is very important that the fragrance suits your skin. Moreover, make sure the cream blends well into your skin, we strongly recommend you try it on before actually buying it.

HOW DO I USE IT? They are two ways of using your CC cream. You can either wear it by itself without any foundationon top, or you can wear it as a make-up coverage base in order for your foundation to last longer. If your skin isn’t too damaged and is spot free, you can use your CC cream alone by day and as a make-up base by night for an optimal effect.

color control cream

Page 39: INFLUENTE PARIS - July/August 13 -

39

ISN’T IT TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE ?As a skincare treatment, the CC cream you have chosen will protect your skin, though, it won’t cover it like a foundation will.Once again, if you suffer from skin problems, you might need to add a concealer or a foundation

to the CC cream for a better result.Do not forget to adapt your CC cream with your skin tone, watch out for the pinky tones which won’t suit darker skins.

WHAT ARE YOUR BEAUTY SECRETS?

I follow a diet rich in green vegetables and green juices. I think this really helps nourishing

my body and providing a radiant skin. I swear by one cosmetic: Egyptian Magic Skin Cream. I use it for everything it makes my skin very soft.

DO YOU HAVE A PARTICULAR RITUAL?

I always wash my face before I go to bed and apply Egyptian Magic skin cream and it keeps me well moisturized throughout the night.

DO YOU THINK PARIS HAS AN INFLUENCE ON THE WAY YOU DRESS?

Yes definitly, being from New York my style used to be more rock/hipster influenced. I think after working here in Paris my style has changed into a more refined and sophisticated spin off of my old NYC Style.

Sadaharu Aoki offers many classic French pastries served with a definite Japanese twist.Among them is the delicate “millefeuilles” with AZUKI or Mâcha cream/sesame filling, or the wasabi/Mâcha/Yuku Macarons, to which are added a rainbow of colors and classic fruit flavors. Chef Aoki infuses his pastries with finely powdered Mâcha green tea, which gives the Japanese touch. With Aoki’s pâtisserie, the two cities are bound by a mutual obsession for simplicity, delicious simplicity!

Moored nearby the “Place des Victoires” and the “Rue Saint-Honoré”, this new gourmet address makes waves in the right bank’s curiosity. Peeled and cut in pieces Breton lobster, wrapped up in a home made sauce and served between two slices of French toast… it was bold! The Lobster Bar makes the difference in offering a unique Menu.

The first course is to share with friends: a selection of tarama (sea urchin, crab…) and sea rillettes (abalone, sea bass, scallop shell…) followed

by the famous lobster roll with its crunchy salad and virgin olive oil glazed home made French fries.Lobsters, fizz & potatoes are all certified made in France and green responsible.

The Cristal Room Baccarat is hidden in the prestigious 16th Arrondissement of Paris.Squeezed in above a little boutique, it is in a stylish atmosphere filled with History that you can have a drink and a quick bite. This splendid setting of covered bricks set in panelling and gilts was revisited by Phillip Stark.

As for the kitchen, it was imagined and orchestrated by the starred chef Guy Martin and Adrien Manac’h.We firmly recommend the private terrace “Salon Rose” and its amazing vue.
