The International School of Moscow is a member of the British Schools Foundation, a growing organization with schools in Asia, Europe, North and South America whose mission it is to offer World Class Education The International School of Moscow has been established to educate the children of expatriate families in the city. It has quickly become a thriving international school with a growing pupil population. Our Krylatskaya campus is located in the middle of Moscow’s Olympic park, in a lovely area of the city surrounded by green, open spaces and a wide variety of excellent sports facilities. It is made up of two sites, adjacent to each other with a short five-minute walk in between. Both sites are attractive facilities with all of the advantages of being newly developed. An additional EYFS site and Primary site was opened in 2014-15 in the exclusive expatriate residential complex Rosinka in the north west of the city. All sites offer superb facilities that include: • Classrooms equipped with an Interactive Whiteboard and wireless internet access • Mobile devices including notebooks and IPADs for pupils • Music room and additional practice rooms • Dance and drama studios • Teaching intervention and support rooms • Libraries • Indoor hall and gymnasium • Cafeteria • Well equipped play areas • Access to Football and Basketball courts, a nearby swimming pool, sporting facilities and golf course The school has business and administrative staff that are Russian nationals. They provide an invaluable service, having regular contact with the Russian government and local authorities to ensure that we can operate efficiently. The administartion staff organise work permits, visas, flights, etc., as well as helping all new staff with housing.

The International School of Moscow is a selective school; all children take an assessment, in Mathematics and English, before entry. Pupils are expected to be able to speak English at a level that will enable them to access the curriculum from an early stage. For those whose proficiency is not at the required level, an integrated programme of EAL (English as an Additional Language) is provided to support their mainstream education. Some of our Assistant Teachers may have the opportunity to complete an EAL qualification through the school and support this programme. We are seeking to recruit Assistant Teachers who are native English speakers, with recent experience of education in the UK, who have a strong academic background and are able to offer enthusiasm and commitment to our school. We also encourage students with particular strengths in languages, music and sport to apply as these are key curriculum areas within the school. Assistant Teachers support our work throughout the school. They are not here simply to photocopy and display work. While this is a part of the job in reality, we are looking for students with an enthusiasm for working with children and may be considering a future in teaching. You will work closely with your lead teacher and will be expected to work with groups of children, individuals and at times the whole class. At The International School of Moscow the most important people are our pupils. Our school is probably not their first educational experience. Inevitably, we have some children who have received interrupted educational experiences and need a period of quick consolidation before an appropriate programme of development can be planned. Expatriate families normally spend on average three years on each contract before being relocated. However, there are also long stay families whose children will complete their education with us. Moscow is a complex and vibrant city under transformation. It is a place where you can experience on a daily basis the reconciliation of a unique past and a promising future. The city offers all the shopping and dining options you would expect to find in a major European city, with a fantastic array of cultural events and tourist sites on offer. From an architectural standpoint, the city is a mesh of truly impressive buildings, old-style soviet apartment blocks, wide streets (in some cases extremely wide) and underground walkways. The Moscow River winds its way through the urban landscape providing some attractive views. There is also a very active social life in the city, with cafes, bars and restaurants often being full throughout the day and night. Teachers and Assistants Teachers would normally move around by Metro or underground,

which in itself is not only a tourist attraction, but also an extremely efficient means of transport. The closest underground stop to the school is a good 20 minutes walk, and thus the school provides a mini-bus service to shuttle staff to and from the metro station. All Gap-year students are provided with a modern, fully equipped apartment of a western standard to be shared between two gap-year students, usually though not always of the same gender. It is not essenatial to know any Russian before you come here. However, learning Russian can be fun and is a big advantage when living here. A number of flea markets, museums, parks and art galleries and lots of cultural shows such as opera or ballet are available at reasonable prices. You can also explore the amazing forests and nature that surrounds the city or even travel to other locations in Russia such as St. Petersburg that is only 1 hour away by plane. • Net salary of 14 600 EUR per year • Comprehensive Medical cover • Shared accommodation and opportunity of housing allowance if contract is renewed. • Annual travel allowance of 800 EUR
