GENERAL INFORMATION The Inner West Eisteddfod is managed by the Inner West Eisteddfod (Inc). The Eisteddfod is administered solely by volunteers and monies received from donations are used for prizes and the promotion of the Eisteddfod.
Entry Fee: see section for details, LATE ENTRIES $10, per entrant CLOSE 8 APRIL, 2018
Entry forms: use the entry form/s included in this Syllabus. Should more entry forms be required please make photocopies.
COMPULSORY ADMINISTRATION: $5.00 per entrant (a duo/trio/ensemble etc. is treated as a single entrant).
This fee covers the cost of postage, handling, one (1) programme and the Syllabus for next year.
Applications will NOT be accepted without payment of this fee.

RULES AND CONDITIONS:
1. All Sections are for amateurs only – an amateur means a person, the major portion of whose income is not derived from the exercise of his/her talents for the particular Section which he/she had entered. Entrants may be requested to supply proof of income to a committee member. 2. No entries will be accepted unless accompanied by the FULL ENTRY FEES AND COMPULSORY ADMINISTRATION FEES. 3. No entry fee will be refunded (exception Rule 19.) 4. The entrant’s age will be determined as at closing date for Section of the current
year. 5. In any Section where an age limit is specified, the committee reserves the right to
ask any entrant, at any time, to provide a proof of age. Prize money may be withheld until such proof has been provided.
6. Closing date for entries in each section is stated in the Syllabus. LATE ENTRIES ACCEPTED. :- late fee applies to each entrant 7. The Committee may cancel any Section if insufficient entries are submitted or may
create two or more divisions if entries are deemed excessive. Minimum number 6 entries per section.
8. Entrants who have been pupils of Adjudicators at any time during the six (6) months
prior to closing date of the current year are not eligible to compete in any Section judged by that Adjudicator.
9. The Adjudicator’s decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into. 10. If, due to unforeseen circumstances, an Adjudicator is unable to perform his/her
duties, the Committee reserves the right to appoint a substitute without notice. 11. The Adjudicator reserves the right to terminate a performance at any stage. 12. The Adjudicator reserves the right to withhold, and in consultation with the Section
Co-ordinator, reduce or vary any prize. 13. Each entrant may perform an item only once during the Eisteddfod. 14. Entrants should register at Reception TEN (10) MINUTES prior to starting time and
Subject to Rule 20, performers shall appear in the order in which they are listed in the official programme. If a performer is not present when called he/she is liable to disqualification. Latecomers will be included at the end of the Section and could be excluded from Prize Presentation at the discretion of the Adjudicator.
15. In all Sections presentation and appearance will be taken into consideration. 16. In all Sections performers must, before the commencements of the Section, hand to
the RECEPTION DESK, a copy of the performance item for the Adjudicator. Each entrant is responsible for collecting the item (if an original or licensed photocopy) at the conclusion of the Section.

NOTE: PHOTOCOPIES OF MUSICAL WORKS, POEMS, LITERARY OR DRAMATIC EXTRACTS PROVIDED TO THE COMMITTEE, UNLESS CLEARLY MARKED AS “NOT SUBJECT TO COPYRIGHT” WILL BE RETAINED AND DESTROYED AFTER USE. THERE WILL BE NO PHOTOCOPYING FACILITIES MADE AVAILABLE BY THE INNER WEST EISTEDDFOD.
17. Performers must adhere to the TIME limit specified in each Section. 18. No responsibility will be accepted for accidents, injury or lost property of any person or persons at this Eisteddfod. All entrants perform at their own risk. 19. The Committee reserves the right to cancel any Section in which there is an insufficient number of entries in which case the entry fee will be refunded. 20. The Committee reserves the right to amend the programme at any time and to vary the order of performers in any Section. 21. The Committee reserves the right to vary the prizes. 22. Adjudicators’ reports will be furnished at the close of each Section and must be collected then. Those performers requiring a report to be mailed must provide a stamped self-addressed envelope to the Coordinator on duty. 23. The Committee reserves the right to record, broadcast, telecast or videotape any item of the Eisteddfod. 24. No prompting or assistance of any kind shall be given during any performance. 25. All enquiries are to be directed to the Section Coordinator. Entrants and members of the audience are not permitted to approach the adjudicator during the performance of any section. 26. Holders of perpetual trophies will be responsible for their safe custody and return at their own expense by 1 May of the current year. Please telephone (02) 9798 9700 to arrange return. 27. The use of cameras, tape recorders and videos by members of the audience is prohibited. Mobile phones and pagers must be turned off whilst in the auditorium. 28. The decision of the Committee in all questions and disputes is final. 29. ALL ENTRIES ARE DEEMED TO HAVE BEEN MADE WITH THE ENTRANT’S FULL KNOWLEDGE AND ACCEPTANCE OF THESE RULES. 30. CHAMPIONSHIP - All competitors MUST have registered TWO ADJUDICATOR'S REMARK SHEETS with the registration desk as proof of performance in at least TWO SOLO MEMORISED sections to compete in the CHAMPIONSHIP Sections. PLEASE NOTE: READING SECTIONS, PUBLIC SPEAKING, ACTING IN PAIRS and IMPROVISATION SECTIONS DO NOT COUNT TOWARDS THE CHAMPIONSHIP SECTIONS. ***Please Note: A MINIMUM OF 8 ENTRIES ARE NEEDED TO HOLD THE CHAMPIONSHIP SECTIONS.***

NOTE:
1. FOR ALL SECTIONS AGE IS DETERMINED AS AT 4 APRIL.
2. FOR IMPROVISATION SECTIONS TOPIC TO BE PROVIDED BY THE ADJUDICATOR AND A 2 MINUTE PREPARATION TIME ALLOWED
3. ALL OWN CHOICE SECTIONS: PLEASE PRESENT A NEAT COPY OF YOUR WORK TO RECEPTION.
4. ALL OWN CHOICE READINGS REQUIRE 2 COPIES, ONE FOR THE ENTRANT & ONE FOR THE ADJUDICATOR.
5. ENTRANTS MUST REGISTER AT RECEPTION TEN (10) MINUTES PRIOR TO ADVERTISED START TIME OF THEIR SECTION(S). LATECOMERS WILL ONLY BE HEARD AT THE DISCRETION OF THE ADJUDICATOR/COORDINATOR AND WILL BE ELIGIBLE FOR ADJUDICATION ONLY – REFER RULE 14.
6. PRIZES WILL BE TROPHIES & MEDALS. CASH PRIZES WILL BE ALLOCATED WHEN DONATION FUNDING IS FINALISED.
7. Plays will be subject to censorship. Cuts in original text are permitted. It is desired to set a high standard of English, as well as acting. Names of all players must be listed. Settings and costumes to be simple. A table and 4 chairs will be supplied. All royalties must be paid.
8. Credit will be given for the quality of selection. Choice should be appropriate to age and must not be construed as offensive or discriminatory.
