Critical to achieving this task is the focus on four key areas – people, infrastructure, the customer experience, and customer and partner engagement. In becoming even more customer-focused, adherence to operational excellence will continue to be the cornerstone of our business philosophy. This has proved its worth over the past few years, a period of explosive growth for Xerox Emirates. To continue to grow, and to meet the levels of expectation we have established operational excel- lence which will drive our transition to a services-led company – delivering a broader portfolio of solutions and services. The benefits are evident in our results since 2005, when we set ourselves the task of doubling the size of the com- pany in five years. This was achieved two years ahead of schedule at the end of 2007. Then in 2008 we again targeted ourselves with doubling in size by the end of 2012. At the close of 2008, this goal was very much on track, reflecting our success in fulfilling – and exceeding – our customers’ requirements and expectations. Now, with the adoption of ‘Much Better than Expected’ as our rallying cry for 2009, we look forward to reaching even higher levels of customer satisfaction. Many of the Universities in the UAE receive application request from international students – so how do Universities market their services to these prospective students? In many cases, a prospective student’s first engagement with a University is over the web. Here the University could gather some data, their name, addresses, what courses they are interested in, what extra-curricular activities they are interested in (sports, dramatics etc…).

DocushareAn education portal for communication, collaboration and aggregation of data and information – combined with Xerox DocuShare, allows students and teachers to access course work within the DocuShare environment. The solution will also enable parents and teachers to exchange information on the progress of a student and recommend alternative strategies to help the individual succeed during the course.

The data is then taken into a database and utilized to produce a tailored brochure for the individual. The brochure is personalized, using not only their name, but images and messages relating to their courses and extra-mural areas of interest. This has a more profound impact than a generic marketing piece as the student feels that the university took time to address him and his individual preferences.

Statistics tell us that utilizing color and personalized content can improve response rates by as much as 500%.

TAILOR MADE SOLUTIONS & APPLICATIONS FOR EDUCATIONAL SECTOR

When it comes to schools and educational institutions controlling documenta-tion cost can maximize profits and lower over head expenses. According to a recent study conducted by IDC, the leading global market intelligence com-pany, organizations in the educational sector in the UAE spend about $ 167 million in 2008 on IT related products and services. It is also estimated that around 3-5 percent of an organization’s revenue is spend only to meet their documentation requirements. Xerox’s tailor made solutions have helped many educational institutes around the world streamline their work flow, reduce operational cost and increase productivity. Some of the tailor made solutions offered by Xerox include the following:

1. Xerox Print-on-Demand solutionTypically text books are very long and need to be ordered in large quantities from a publisher. Sometimes these books get outdated resulting in stock which is wasted. The Xerox “Print on Demand” solution allows books to be printed as and when the school needs them and in the exact quantity that is required thereby reducing waste and saving money. Each book can also be personalized with the students name and other details such as roll number, address and emergency contact information. This is done through a combination of software, hardware and finishing. The best part about this solution is that it is compatible with any of Xerox’s current production engines, color or monochrome, or a combination of both and can have offline or on-line finishing.

Exam question sheets can be printed efficiently utilizing Xerox’s production equipment. They can generate barcodes which can be scanned when the student’s paper is marked. In addition they can also have unique student numbers, as well as a photograph of the student to ensure that the correct student writes the exam. Copying the answers from another student is always a concern with any educational institute. With a Xerox Exam printing solution each exam can be the same, yet different. The solution can pull questions randomly from a pool of questions of a similar standard. So the level of the exam is the same but the questions could be different.
