Integrated Management of Malignant Pleural Effusions: Pleural Ultrasound and Drainage Techniques This course is suitable for any doctor who wishes to improve their skill at performing pleural ultrasound or insertion of intercostal catheters (Seldinger chest tubes and indwelling pleural catheters) while also updating their knowledge on best practice management of malignant pleural effusions. Day 1 (pleural ultrasound) will be accredited by The Australasian Society of Ultrasound in Medicine for accreditation in Physician-performed ultrasound (Pleural effusion). Pleurodesis versus indwelling pleural catheter. Specimen collection for diagnosis. Medical thoracoscopy. Hands on practice- chest tube insertion using the Seldinger technique Hands of practice- indwelling pleural catheter insertion.
